Booo. I finally had to cry "Uncle". This cold has turned into an absolute outrage. Never let it be said that I do anything by halves. Today is day 3 w/o going out. I have been dosing myself liberally with Sambucol, Olive Leaf and lots of C, but this one has really got a hold of me.
Of course it hasnt been a total waste of time. I have been getting in contact with anyone I have ever seen running in my tiny town (anyone Im not scared of anyway). Its a total of 2 runners out of 3. My plan is to find at least one person to buddy up with.
I wasnt joking about bears and mountain lions around here. There are also tons of coy dogs and somerattlesnakes too, although I dont have to worry about them fora few months. Im not sure what the proper course is with pumas ( I think they just eat you and you have to let them.)but I did meet a huge bear when I was out walking once. He stopped right in the middle of the road to stare at me. He was about 30 yards ahead of me. Let me tell you that I stopped too. We stared at each other for a bit and then he slowly went into the woods, stopping every few steps and lookingto make sure I wasnt gonna give him any trouble. I still had a mile or two before I made it back to my town. Sure did make my heart go pitty pat. I think they may finally be hibernating now, although there were reports of bear activity just last week.
Barefoot TJ gave me a nice tip to up my energy level and replenish my vitamin c, a glass of OJ before you go running. It sounds so sensible that I just might make it a habit, even when Im not sick.
