Tried VFFs on for the first time......meh  Now what?

As long as you have some room

As long as you have some room in the VFFs, the socks should work well. If your VFFs are already a bit tight, there will be no room for your feet to swell, as is normal after about three miles of running.

If you need the traction, have you thought about the VFF Treks? Check out the 2010 Minimalist Footwear Review & Buyer's Guide for more info on the Treks, as well as some other minimal footwear options out there: http://www.barefootrunners.org/images/barefoottj/Run%20Free/MinimalistFootwearReview.pdf

I found the Teva Protons to

I found the Teva Protons to have great traction in snow last year, and that's mostly what I wore. I find the toes are pretty exposed in the Bikila's especially because they can't share heat with each other, but I have room for Injinji's. As soon as my toe swelling (infected) goes down, I'll be trying it out. It has to get pretty cold for me to worry, though.
