Hi Warren,

The terrain is the beach which is clean and well maintained and I run on it three times a week. There are usually some people running barefoot in events on the beach and there are several events each year. According to Ernie one of my band of barefooters for IBRD it is common forhim to run barefoot in these events. He is 80, an M.D. and thinks it is the second best beach to run on in the world. What is the definition of "barefoot friendly" in terms of race officials? Do you mean that they might disqualify us for running barefoot? Please clarify and I will track down the organizers and find out. Good point. I am on a steep learning curve on this and appreciate the input.

Marc,

I've thought about this again and I wouldn't ask any officials if I were you. As long as the terrain is amenable to bare feet and there isn't a specification for shoes on any liability forms I suggest we just run and see what happens.
