Hi,
I've got a pair of do-it-yourself kit Xero shoes. I went for a run in them yesterday for the first time. I ran a quiet 5 km run as I've been recovering from a slight achillies problem (slight, because I don't want it to get worse) and it was good distance to try out the new shoes.
Up until now I've been running in vibram 5 fingers, Bikilas and Speeds. Oddly enough I get the feeling my toes are restricted so that was my main reason for going even more minimalist. I got the 4mm sole for my Xeros. The kit was easy to put together, though there's more rope than a topsail schooner so you have a fair bit to find a home for. I just kept wrapping the lace back around the heal until it was all used up, I not going to cut it.
The run was great, the shoes (if they can be called that) were very comfortable and stayed in place really well. No blisters and a pretty comfortable run overall. I'll give them another go tomorrow which well give me some idea how they'll go longer term.
