Tonic(Toni), TigerPaw(Sterling) and myself turned out for this race yesterday and it was a lot of fun! There were probably 10-15 people running barefoot and I tried to make it a point to talk to all of them that were "grown ups". "Hey, did you run barefoot? Do you usually run barefoot? Are you on Barefootrunners.org?". It was kinda funny how the responses sort of aligned with how tan or pale their feet were! LOL!
I ran the 1mile fun run with my daughter, which I needed. It was my 3rd day in a row to run and I was feeling it! We ran/walked together. I look forward to a lot more of that with her! Toni also ran it to losten up, still sore from her trail run. The surface around the park was nice and it was great to share what we do and why we do it with so many people open to it in one place! I'm hoping a few of the folks we talked with will come out to the Clinic on the 15th or at least join up here to feed the addiction.
The race went well as it was a smallish affair. Toni passed me towards the end to finish 15sec or so ahead of me and Sterling put a couple of minutes on both of us. The guy who placed first in the barefoot class, said he's trying for a BF Half in December, but will run in VFFs if his feet are not ready. Hope to see him there. We also met a nice couple, Jason and Nicole who are barefoot runners and one other guy, Jason or Jeremy...I'm so bad with names. He's not normally a barefooter, but really liked it.
All in all, it was a fun event and I'll run it again if they put it on! The park had the largest kid play ground I've ever seen, so I may make the trip out to run while the kids play, in the future!
