I am a huge beer nerd, and could never EVER cut out beer. That said, I almost never drink more than 1-2 per night. Also, I savour beer, so I drink it quite slowly. But I would like to point out that equating beer or wine with unfortunate and tragic drinking problems is not really sensible. 90% of people (or thereabouts) have no problem drinking recreationally and no more. The important part is knowing your limits, which the OP needs to figure out - if not, cutting the beer altogether is a good idea.
