Strained my hamstring at a half marathon last Saturday. It was a cold morning and I felt it about a mile into the race but was able to keep everything under control and finish with a respectable time. It was a little tight all week but was not an issue until 3.5 miles into a 12 mile long run yesterday when it stopped me in my tracks. I tested it a couple of times on the walk back to the car. There was no way I was going to finish the run and cut it short. There is bruising and some discomfort today.

This has happened to the same leg several times but has been probably 20 years since the last time while playing touch football. Suggestions on treatment it was a week in between incidents? Thanks.
 
Perhaps you should have

Perhaps you should have rested several more days before attempting to run on it again. I think at this point, you have no choice. Ice it and rest it. Good luck.
