I am training for my first ultra in a month and already had to take some time off for a foot injury. I wore some shoes that are not quite minimalist at about 15mm last week to run on a flat trail. After 15 miles, my outer side of my left knee was hurting so I switched to trail gloves and it was better. This was last Saturday. Since then, I have had a tad bit of pain on the outside of the knee. When I start running if I put my foot too far in front of me or go too fast, it hurts a bit and seems to catch. If I run slowly and with my foot landing under my center of mass, it seems okay.

I really don't want to be missing all running. My plan is to lower my miles this week and run slowly and carefully. It seems like it might be a minor form of ITBS. Does this seem like the correct diagnosis and an okay remedy? It is not swollen.
