Maybe ditch the VFFs, just wear them for casual wear and find a different pair of minimal running shoes. Thank goodness there's a quick rise in minimal shoes, LOTS out there now. Good luck finding the one that works best for you
FWIW, it took me a long time to figure out how to run in shoes after I'd run without them for so long. It'll come, it's all a matter of what you learn to do with that sour milk Cultured milk can be very good for you if you know what you're doing with it
