AM one-mile run-commute, 6F/2F windchill, then some midmorning Plyo & Mobility, then PM 3.1-mile run home at 22F, no wind.

AM 3.8 mi run, 11F no wind, then it snowed but melted in time for my one-mile run-commute home, except for a few spots with shadow. Then deadlifts. I failed at 285, my stomach was a little gurgly, but I think it was mostly the extra running I’ve been doing catching up to me, and/or a lack of concentration. Redeemed myself somewhat with several sets of 265 x 4.

AM: one-mile run-commute, 8F/-15F windchill (-13.3C/-26.1C), a new coldest barefoot run PR, even if the wind didn’t really feel that bad until I was halfway there, out of my neighborhood. It was really bad crossing the bridge over the railroad yard. I musta been going 8mm pace, and out in the middle of the road to avoid all the debris on the sidewalk.
PM: great chest and arms workout, then stopped in fairgrounds, on my way to daycare and new Total Wine retailer to pick up Tristan’s Chillwave rec, for 5 miles of back-n-forths at 23F/10F windchill. Street surfaces are bone-dry now. Just a few miles shy of 700 Winter Challenge klicks. Going to try for 750.

AM: one-mile run commute at 10F/2F windchill. Very sore from Tuesday’s ST, could barely lift my arms. The forecast for Thursday is rain and/or snow, and my brother offered to pick up our toddler on his way in from the airport, so I blew off the afternoon ST and went on the same 11.2-mile long run down by the river I did last Thursday, at 38F/27F windchill. Stopped to walk and stretch several times. Very pleasant, although patches of moisture were still challenging.
When I got home, it was still warm enough to walk .4 mi down to my daughter’s school with my son to pick her up. The kids there got a real kick out of my bare feet. Of course they asked about glass, I asked them why didn’t wear helmets in case they bump their heads. That got them thinking. One kid waited to see me walk outside on the slushy snow. My daughter decided to take off her shoes too, but then thought better of it after a minute or two. She’s got no adaptation, but I like her spirit.
Did my rows and landmines after a sashimi dinner with my brother, but wasn’t up for hyper extensions while still digesting. Then a bottle of Chillwave while my daughter read Dr. Seuss.

AM woke up at 2pm. My legs felt pretty stiff, and it’s a balmy 39F/28F windchill so I set out walking instead of running. This felt good, so I took a left and walked up through the fairgrounds and then back down Como while listening to field recordings, jogging here and there, and got in another 3.8 miles to pad my Winter Challenge mileage. I’m really getting tired of keeping track of temps and windchills. Kinda goes against my recent 'no numbers' approach. I wonder if I'll ever be brave enough to stop keeping track of mileage. Wait, then I'd have no reason to participate here, would I?
It’s supposed to start raining soon. Rain means it’s spring, right?
The walking really helped loosen up my legs, so maybe I’ll try some box jumps later. Then squats and maybe my shoulder stuff too this afternoon. I’m experimenting with rolling the shoulder st into one of my other st sessions so that I’ll have two days off on the weekend, one for long run, and one for plyometric/mobility stuff. It’s just too hard to get in a good lift on weekends with the kids around. I can do the long run early in the morning when they’re still asleep, and the plyo stuff if I go to my office. I’ve attached yet another revamped workout routine. I like the greater simplicity of this one.
