I'm Chris and I'm from Bristol, UK.
A quick introduction of how I found myself here. I don't currently run, I used to, but unfortunately due to injury I'm no longer able to.
In 1998 I had a bad accident breaking my back, arm, legs and a pilon fracture of my right ankle.
I've since developed arthritis in my right ankle.
I've always been a heel striker which I've more recently related to bad days of pain in my ankle. I decided I'd like to try and change my walk to a mid/forefoot strike. I bought some Vivobarefoot Freud minimal shoes and started wearing them for my 30min commute to and from work. After getting used to them and feeling some minor aches in my legs I've noticed a marked improvement in my ankle. I wear the Freuds all day on a casual dress Friday at work and it's still improving. Next is to find some minimal work shoes I like.
I'm aware I'm no longer protecting my ankle with cushioned soles and am taking it steady and slowly.
Any advice will be greatly received, work shoe suggestions or otherwise.
