Did you seriously just say "f-yas?" Ha!
yeah... don't know what got into me (but I think it may have been red, dry and French ). And you left it there??? lol

I wonder if this is at all tied to the tacks in the Tour de France a few days ago. Is there some kind of global reactionary movement in play here?I've just found out that one of my cycling friends got 3 flats, over 2 days, last week at the bottom of that hill. Coincidence? I doubt it!
Impressive transcription. I didn't realize Germans had become proficient in American slang too. Is there anything you folks don't do well? I'm so proud to be one eighth German.yeah... don't know what got into me (but I think it may have been red, dry and French ). And you left it there??? lol

Is that referencing the fact that you've lived in the USA for a long time?(should I tell him and spoil it?)

32 years, I didn't realize. I was under the impression that you were German-born and had only spent a few years here. I don't know where I picked that up from though, besides the flag . . .yesssss ... 32 years. The first 32, in fact
I moved to Germany with my German wife end of '95 - just to try it out, yuk yuk. It worked out well for us and the time really flew once we had a kid! All of sudden, 16 years had gone by, whooosh!
Sorry to tease you like that. I wrongly assumed ppl just knew I'm as American as Harley Davidson. (Willie G. reference there, watch out)
Just curious, you also have extensive running experience, no?
Cool. What do you think of my current running routine of doing 1 day hill repeats (.2 miles up hill, .4 coming back down around the block), 1 day fartleks (paces between 7mm and 9mm, with walking breaks), and one or two days steady pace?well, I started with HS track/X-country in the 9th grade, which was, hmmm... 1977? Been at it on and off since then. There were some pretty long 'off' phases in there, like 4 or 5 years at a pop, but I always started up again - only to be plagued by one syndrome or another, and then, Hello Barefooting!
Sorry to hear of both of you guys' ordeals. I hope every goes well for Longboard today!11 1/2 hours from now and I find out.

That's what I understood, and that's great news! But if I remember Board's story correctly, a successful outcome sounds a lot more tenuous.nah, my story had a happy ending
well, at least I hope so - I go for my first post-op C/T scan in September.
And Board'll be fine!
Yah, that makes a lot of sense. I think impact is what ages the joints the most, so running is probably best replaced by swimming as we age, but I'm a terrible swimmer, and going to a pool involves a certain amount of rigamarole, compared to running, where you can just open the door and go. It's also a good justification for continuing to do deliberate, controlled strength-training with free weights, as opposed to more vigorous but impactful 'functional fitness' stuff. My doc says my joints are like those of a man 20 years younger, and I attribute it to having done free-weights, on and off, for most of my adult life.He said that activity is known to increase the rate of joint aging, and that the spine is just one long series of joints. But, activity is also well known to delay OTHER aspects of aging. He said it's all a delicate balance, and that NOBODY knows the secret to the correct balance.
I believe that, and will try to find that balance as it applies to me.
