I was just talking about this

I was just talking about this with someone the other day. It's quite sad really, to have to shoe a horse, especially if the horse's hoofs are deteriorated.

I don't know that much about

I don't know that much about horse racing but I've heard that it's fairly common to let harness racing horses race barefoot over here. I believe most still train shod but they seem to get faster if the shoes are removed while racing.
