I ran pretty hard the other night, and noticed the next day what felt like swelling and a bruise on the ball of my foot under my second and third toes. I still hurts today (third day) and doesn't seem to be getting better. I'm loath to put some shoes on, but I may have to in order to give my foot a "break" in that spot. Anybody else have this happen to them? Any thoughts on what I should do?
When I stepped on a rock running trails I had a very similar pain/swelling. I took it easy for a week, iced it often and ran a few times wearing shoes so that I did not risk insuting the area again. Did you step on anything that caused imediate pain?
I know my body pretty well and I figured it was soft tissue so I gave it time to heal. If the pain doesn't go away soon, see a doc.
