After hearing about the haters regarding barefoot running I was a bit apprehensive about trying my huaraches during an actual race after hearing about what happened to Jimmy Heart. But the course was around an elementary's school so it was a grass field and felt like what better way to use them then during a fun run. But to my surprise I saw a couple guys with vibrams and one woman who decided to go barefoot. They all were surprised at my huaraches wondering how they would hold up. Race happened and I don't know if the course was short or not but I PR'd by 3 minutes with a time of 23 minutes. People asked me questions after the race about them and were very supportive, which is surprising because my area doesn't have a large running community.
