Hi Guys!
I am going to be running the Standard Charter Marathon Singapore 2016 barefoot.
This was the aim from last year when I ran it shod (Inov RoadX 233 sans socks) because of lack of training due to injuries and a bad case of dengue. I came in just over 5 hours and hated it. I have never felt so crappy during the race. There was a total lack of long runs before except for a 35km the weekend before, as I had some serious calf issues the whole of last year. I was running barefoot from May last year but had to ditch those for shoes just so I could ramp up the training. (I could have ditched the race but ego said No!) The dengue also floored me for 5 weeks.
The pictures of me during the race weren't pretty, and for the last 10k I was running sun and walking shade. Obviously, with humidity of 80% and temps of 33C, the conditions weren't conducive to easy running.
Roll on to this year, I have been training pretty well with far less issues. I was going to do Barefoot event organized by Habitat for Humanity Singapore, http://bareyoursole.sg/ , but was out the country at the time. So, I decided to take it one step further and raise some awareness and funds for them by running a marathon barefoot.
Please can you Like my Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Soles4Singapore/ , and if you feel like donating, it would be much appreciated!
To create content for my page, I have finally started my blog, Goat Foot Running, http://goatfootrunning.blogspot.sg/ , and made my Strava public. Hopefully I can keep this up for some time...
Any support, moral or otherwise, will be very much appreciated!!
