Thank you, TJ and the rest of you who have been working hard behind the scenes. I am grateful for your putting the interests of the BRS ahead of your own individual interests. I think it is disgusting that one person's greed has caused so much turmoil. If the barefootrunners.org does end up in any hands other than the BRS, then I would hope the successor site would be shunned by barefoot and minimalist runners.
As for the BRS' organizational structure, it makes sense to operate as an LLC until there is a lot of surplus money. Many people don't know that the fees for forming a non-profit organization are considerable (thank you, IRS) and the accounting/auditing requirements to maintain non-profit status also cost a significant amount. It's cheaper and less burdensome in most states to operate as a technically for-profit business. The irony is that government rules end up taking the biggest bite (in proportional terms) from those charitable/nonprofit efforts that can least afford to pay.
Thanks again, BRS leaders!
