This are the VFF we are talking about Zetti, there is no arch support, heel lift nor cushioning, nothing.
AND they are super, super flexible.
My local rei did not have them a few weeks ago when I was there and apparently just got them as they had them when I went in yesterday.yep...I have the KSOs...just too hot for my feetsies...
My comment was really that I'm not concerned about having a light pair of VFFs as weight is not my primary concern.
Now if I can just find a cooler pair....sounds like the El-X might be worth a try.
Gentile, for me my normal size of 43 is just a touch small so I went up to a 44 which is ever so slightly too big for me, although I like them like this so that I can also wear socks if needed. I will be using these for everyday and gym wear myself.
The only reason I was able to go get these is because I just got some back pay finally from the military and then my wife just went and spent $131 on make up. Who knew make up was so expensive?yeah...we have a store called "Playmakers" here with a stellar return policy (very similar to REI's).
Might be worth a try. Now to convince the Mrs. that I really do need a new pair even though my KSOs are in perfectly good shape...
What'd you think of the flexibility and minimalness of them Adam?My normal is size is 43 as well, but all my pairs could be a bit more snug. I was at REI and tried on 41 of the EL-X, too small. A 42, I think will be perfect, but they didn't have a 42.
Ya, I would like the all black model but the model they carry isn't horrible when compared to a lot of vibrams loud and obnoxious colors. I think I will like the traction as well for our mild trails here. They should be perfect for what I need them for.I was impressed with the flexibility. I was on a rug so didn't really get to experience full hand how minimal they are. But according to Vibrams, the EL-X is their lightest, and most minimal model out there. I have some gift cards to REI, so I am hoping they start to carry the all black model

luckily our local store is into the min shoes. Some of the employees are avid minshoe runners.Looks like the See-ya LS are super light too. I haven't seen those locally yet as it seems like a lot of the places have dumped all vibrams and are barely carrying minimalist shoes now. Kind of weird actually but I know there has been a lot of attacks on barefoot and minimalism from the Oregonian and other media here so maybe that plays a part in it. I was shocked when I went into roadrunner yesterday to find they had no vibrams and are trying to move away from the "barefoot shoe" to just lower drop but thicker cushioning minshoes. (I hate using those terms)
try the women sizes...I hear they are just a fraction different...you might find the size you are looking for.Ok so after some more walking around, probably a mile or two's worth this afternoon, I can say I need to try to size down in the el-x, which has me worried. I tried on my normal 43 yesterday but they felt a little tight, but maybe they'll loosen up as I wear them??? The 44 were just a little big but fit my toes right, but in walking around today I noticed the heels having issues of slipping part way causing me to step on the fabric of the heel. If I were in my normal 43's this wouldn't happen, but then the toes and upper felt a tad tight... What to do what to do...? Thank God I got them at REI so they will have no problem with me exchanging and annoying the clerk till I find a pair that fits right. I wish they had normal colored speeds there because I would swap for those in a heartbeat (my current speeds are orange and green and obnoxiously loud). Can't have too many of the vff's that actually fit and you like.
oh yeah...I think you said that somewhere in this thread....Zetti, they don't make a womens El-X. This is a mens only shoe. About time they made a mens only shoe. Today I will go and try the size 43 again and if it doesn't fit right or adapt to my foot after a few minutes of walking around the store I will just have them order a pair of the black vff speeds for me. I love those shoes and to have a normal color looking pair would go a long way towards happiness with the wife when we go out in public.
