Love the graphic descriptionThe soles of my feet weren’t troubled but the tops of them took some serious abuse- they looked like I’d stuffed them in a pillow case with a couple of angry cats.

Thank you. (I obviously haven't been on here for a while, so this is a very late reply.) I will check those out.Hi Random, for what it's worth (I'm a beginner runner, so I'm not doing huge distances yet), I find the z-treks very nice for running. If you want a bit more protection underfoot whilst still keeping your feet cool, try the z-trails as they are slightly thicker. This Xero page gives an interesting comparison of the "barefoot feel" of each shoe / sandal and its most common uses: https://xeroshoes.com/select/ and seems quite accurate.
For information, I've also tried running in my Clouds, but found that the heel strap slipped down, and that the toe post gave me blisters after a while. These problems may have been solved with the Genesis which have recently come out, and which has a similar style.
The sandals look very much like the ones I got from them. I looked at the link you posted, clicked on a couple of shoes that looked interesting, and discovered that a pair I had really wanted earlier was on sale for $40 off! I rarely happen to be on the site when that happens, so I snagged a pair. Many, many thanks. This Xero page gives an interesting comparison of the "barefoot feel" of each shoe / sandal and its most common uses: https://xeroshoes.com/select/ and seems quite accurate.
I tried running in my sandals and they bent under at the toe and tripped me. I managed to not fall down, but vowed only to run in actual shoes (minimalist, of course) or barefoot after that.Anyone has had a similar situation?
Arrgh, poor Random. I know that my Clouds sometimes catch and bend, but they are so flexible that I just carry on as normal. Maybe try adjusting the straps?I tried running in my sandals and they bent under at the toe and tripped me.
My straps were pretty tight (I don't like them loose). I'm going to stick with running in my Sockwas until my new shoes come, because I'm kind of paranoid about running in the sandals, except for the times I venture out barefoot. (The Sockwas are like running barefoot with protection from the heat and cold. The only problem there is that they are exactly like running barefoot when you hit stones or a patch of stickers.)Maybe try adjusting the straps?
I've done a few runs in my Xero Speed Force now, and am really enjoying them. I'll post a full review on here very soon. Suffice to say - lovely thin soles, very light, but protect the feet when running through brambles in the forest. Just make sure you get them large enough - mine are just about perfect, but I did notice my big toe touching the end of the shoe when my feet were soaking wet.I'm going to stick with running in my Sockwas until my new shoes come, because I'm kind of paranoid about running in the sandals
