I ran my first Barefoot Race today! "Baptism by FIRE!!!"

I ran the Superman 5K to benefit a 12yr old boy who got burned helping his Dad with the burn barrel, when the wind changed on them. His hair and shirt caught fire and he was burned over 34% of his body. He's doing pretty well, though...he showed up and said "Go" to start the kid's fun run. They call the boy Supermahan cause he's really active and his last name is Mahan, so the theme for the race was a no brainer. I'll try and post some pics in my Superman shirt, red cape and red shorts...

The race was in the small town of Honey Grove, TX.(

Ps: here in Michigan we call that gravel/tar stuff chip seal, and you're pretty much guaranteed to run on it if you venture outside city limits. I have done plenty of those and they are not fun, at least until your feet adjust to the roughness.

Yeah, I mostly grew up in a

Yeah, I mostly grew up in a small TX town, so I have a soft spot in my heart for rural TX and the good-hearted people you find there! Folks of all ages were coming outside to cheer us on, and there were less than 100 total runners. The whole town has this kids back...just awesome!

My next run is with my wife for our anniversary, so we are doing special shirts, but I am going to get some BFR.org temp Tattoos, and I'll run my Aug race in a BFR shirt!
