If I recall correctly, you (and Sced) were a big influence on me last summer when I got curious about early morning running. Most excellent 6 mile run a 5:00 am. 61 deg. f. 63 % rh.
I also love running in the dark.
I also like the lack of people and traffic. (very nice)
Some of my favorite runs were starting in the dark and watching the sun rise towards the end on a longer run.
That said, today I forwent the early morning run in order to run down by the river in a few hours and enjoy the autumn leaves, which are reaching peak color. I woke up with this song in my head:
"The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hand I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hand I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall"
It's one of the first songs I learned to walk a bass line under.
72F on yesterday's run home!
A couple of miles here and there every day, some weights here and there. Hectic week. Allergies getting to be too much. I love the warm windy days, but it's blowing around something my system finds wicked.
BTW, should someone tell Sced we're over in this week now?
This one was made last year, so the gravel is very sharp. Also since it is bound, the gravel does not move as you step on it making the surface much more punishing than a typical gravel road.
I've only run on gravel a few times, but I agree, it's a lot easier than rough chip-n-seal. We have some mild chipseal around here though, and it's not too bad, kind of therapeutic for a half mile or so, then it gets annoying.
Just curious, how are you squatting around the house? I recently began squatting at my sit-stand(-squat) desk, and it helps a lot in keeping me loose. Maybe I should be squatting more at home as well?To round out Wednesday's activities, which still included innumerable stair repeats and household squats . . .
