    Skinners saved the day!

Running my regular 15k trail loop run barefoot as always but carrying my new Skinners this time (just in case ). Stone bruised my left arch some 9 kilometers in. Normally it is not a big deal and I just keep running to massage the spot so the bruise goes away faster. Not this time. Had some more...

    Eagle Cap Wilderness

4 day trek in Eagle Cap Wilderness in eastern Oregon. We covered 30 miles and crossed over three mountain passes, the highest one was 8,800 ft. I was able to hike barefoot both the first and last day and did the other two days in huaraches with some rocky sections in VFFs. All...

    Großes Tragl - Austria

During my recent vacation in Austrian Alps me and my brother hiked to the summit of Großes Tragl (2184 m) in Toten Gebirge region. Although all the big limestone plates just called for going barefoot they were also pretty sharp at places. We both managed to finish it barefoot and had a great...

    High Camp, Mt.Adams, WA

Two day backpacking trip to High Camp (elev. 6,900 ft) on Mt.Adams, Washington State. Too lazy to put VFF on for the snow crossings, bare feet managed just fine. The best part was sliding the summer snow fields down on my feet. All photos here

    Capture your motion in colors

Decided to do a little experiment and shot these during my last night run. Placed two different color spotlights on my ankles and captured my running form using a long exposure. Comparing the two different curves may be useful to reveal more about your running form. All of them are taken with...

    Inflamed tendon

Have been having some swelling in this area for two weeks. It only really hurts when I try to lift my big toe. It is not on the bone (fibula) but right next to my tibia, feels like a soft tissue inflammation. If I run it does not hurt but I can feel it sore. It is improving but very slowly IMHO...

    Race the Reaper

Race the Reaper By Paraganek Did Race the Reaper 6 Mile+ Adventure Run with my son Lukas. I ran this race two years ago but for Lukas it was his first time. There were 26 obstacles on the 6 mile route, the toughest one for me was A-frame Monkey Bars. Lukas was trying hard but had to...

Flat Feet = Happy Feet ?

Interesting study. Flat Feet = Happy Feet ? My take from it - if you have "flat feet" your plantar loading area is larger. Consequently, the plantar pressure is distributed more equally over the foot. Unequal foot loading (people with higher arches), i.e. the local peak pressures under the...

    X-Dog Whine on the Vine

Following my plan to run all X-Dog trail races barefoot, "Whine on the Vine 5 Mile Adventure Run" was next on my list. The last race I ran was Mt. Hood Scramble 4 weeks ago with some unforgiving rocky terrain where I managed to rip a piece of my plantar skin off. (Read more here) I was...

    X-Dog Mt. Hood Scramble

Mt. Hood Scramble: The Grandfather of Filth By Paraganek A few words from the organizer: This event isn't designed for the pansy-ass front avenue runner -- DO NOT expect some cutesy lil' downtown 5k, or some wussy boy trail-run. This mother is packed with adventure: hills, creeks, rock...
