are you barefooters or barefoot runners?

I am BF as much as I can be. I got thrown out of a light house ON Tybee Island last year, walmart has hassled me, o few restaurants, and as a teacher I am barely allowed to wear my branca sandals. That said everything else is BF including running. TJ

    Runner's high

I have experienced second winds before, but I never got the runners high till I slowed down and went barefoot. I just enjoy it more, and I guess that is because of the endorphins.

    Runner's high

Until I slowed down, and learned to appreciate the textures, and the surroundings I also felt it was just hard work. Now I find I am anxious to go out. The key is to not make it hard. Slow down and enjoy your run. The speed will come, and you won't quit because you are miserable.

    Wellstar 5k

Lol I actually had to sit down and let a couple look at my feet so they would believe I was not injured in anyway. The "what if you step on glass," "what if you get hookworm," "does it not hurt" questions were voluminous. It was awesome though....my first foray back into organized races in a while.

    Wellstar 5k

Well no where near as impressive as you guys' races, but there were a lot of Docs running and it was hilarious to see the looks and respond to the questions about being barefoot. My wife was a few paces behind me and said several peeps almost tripped turning to see that I was barefoot. Loads of...

    Hello From Bromsgrove, UK

I was 340 lbs (lol you are waaaay better shape) when I started. I probably looked pitiful, but I was having fun even though I ran slower than my wife walked. Moral of the story is barefoot was fun, just do it, have fun, and listen to your feet. If it hurts stop! TJ Morris

    Hello From Bromsgrove, UK

Just go out and run! Do it barefoot, but don't go too far. Don't worry about time to start with and just enjoy the experience. The form will come along and you will enjoy it.

Have you seen the episode where he walks on coals? I am not a big fan of toughening my feet, I thought that was the main thing I haven't agreed with in terms of barefooting.

He's cooky. I haven't perceived from him that he sees himself as a completely separated from society guy. On the contrary he uses a lot of things to make his life easier. My question is related to his philosophy of toughening his feet. Cody lundein sees his feet as a mitochondrial link to...

That article is pretty consistent with the show. Though the ads make it seem as if he's a hermit in the wild he is pretty honest about his life. My curiosity is simply in his philosophy as it relates to being barefoot.

I think that is pretty consistent with his presentation on the show. I noticed him standing in hot coals to toughen his feet. My feet are soft but I handle a lot of terrains. I don't see a need for callouses. I run 5-6 miles daily on asphalt with no probs and can get much more on the trails. I...

Well, I have been watching this new show on Nat Geo....wondering if anyone else is and what you think about his practices? He calls himself the barefoot sensei. I would greatly much prefer a show with Ted or Ken Bob, but..... Originally posted in my Georgia forum thought i would open it up to a...
