    Great Hike

I'm afraid that won't work with bears :) Though in my life I've handled lots of dogs and one has trotted along with me for over 30 km during a hike. I must say that if attacked by a dog, it's good to have somesort of shoes on. Jildeleon, I'm sorry that i took over your topic and started...

    Great Hike

I stopped carrying pepper spray after it just irritated one dog who attacked me even more. This stuff doesn't work. I'd say my survival knife needed to be upgraded anyways. It's hard to chop woods with it:P

    Great Hike

They hanged in our camp until one of us, still sleeping, ran out of tent bare naked:P Luckily axes and knives we had taken out in last resort weren't needed. Yeah, that's weird that barefoot guy gets scared the boots on, not off. I was also bitten by the polecat and my feet are full of...

    Great Hike

had a 16 day hike with xeroshoes and totally barefoot combined. On last day i put my feelmax kuuva oots on because two bears were hanging in our camp site and i needed to be more mobile than usual. Safety before comfort :/

Risks with cold temperature barefoot running

I may be paranoid but now when temperatures are over 10 C my feet won't get cold. In ways its nice but its hard to wear socks, shoes and sleeping feet under blanket or inside sleepingbag. Lets see wherher i'll adapt

    Anyone drink and hike?

Still, I'm not a beer drinker. OK, had some 80% vodka with me on 60 km hike this weekend and if mixed half with cranberry syrup it was quite OK to drink. Still I'm the first guy to be up in morning, making tea, breakfast and packing up.

To swamps this weekend, DIY Xeroshoes modification

Well, i'm back. 1 day in "tourism" areas and 3 days in a middle of nowhere. Sadly must say I don't have action shots as i didn't take my camera to places where the landscape was at it's best. On the tracks i was barefoot but off the tracks I used my xeroshoes. Modification helped, these didn't...

To swamps this weekend, DIY Xeroshoes modification

Time to put some shoes on! The land has just melted up a little and snow is gone. In other words I'm going to have a little 4-day hike in swamps, that means if i'm lucky i go only knee-deep into mother earth. In swamps there are things that may be uncomfortable to sink on with a barefoot. Also...

Oh, drinking DURING a hike? :D My bad, that's a big no no for me really, usually drink only while in camp.

    Anyone drink and hike?

Maybe sounds little rough but with cold weather i always take some vodka with me, in hard-core winter conditions i use 80% mix, as it's sure not to freeze. With really cold weather it's a fuel, gives energy and it's really hard to get drunk cause it wears off quick. Summer times is a whole...

Risks with cold temperature barefoot running

Hello, Here's a little intro: I'm new in this forum. I've practised barefoot running/hiking/trotting for about two years now, this winter I decided to go barefoot as much as it's possible. Every morning, first thing i did was to go outside and shug my feet into snow and walk for a bit until i...
