Comment by 'roberekson' in 'Boston Bound: Sin City had me at hello (Rock n Roll Las Vegas half marathon report)'

Great review Glen. I started one station ahead of my assigned corral, but still had to weave through traffic for about 6 miles and also ran out of energy. I think I'll cheat up a few corrals next time :). Awesome time though, and good job representing the barefooters out there. Oh, and I...

For Advanced Barefoot Runners Only... here's a challenge.

zapmamak wrote:I hiked on Unfortunately, I've done something similar to that. My wife and I did a 1-mile trek through fresh lava fields (about 100 years old is all I believe) to go snorkeling. On the way back, her flip-flop she had on broke so I gave her mine and finished the last 3/4 of a...

What do you wear when not running?

I wear flip flops or KSOs I wear flip flops or KSOs mostly. If I wear flip flops, I usually kick them off at work and walk around barefoot until I go to lunch or go home.

training for longer races... where do you get the time?

I'll go ahead and repeat what I'll go ahead and repeat what has already been mentioned, but you'll easily find the time once you make it a priority. I wake up at 4:45am during the week for my runs, and I'm usually up by 6:00am or 6:30am on Saturdays and out the door to run with my brothers.

The study on stability shoes being worse for overpronators?

I can personally attest to I can personally attest to this. I had troubles with shin splints for years (and almost quit running because of it). After finally going to a podiatrist I was given custom orthotics and a follow-up trip to a running store where I bought "motion-control" shoes. Well...

    Foot Mileage w/e Nov. 14

Zumba:Correct, my 10K Zumba: Correct, my 10K Saturday will be in my Free 3.0s. I have my first-ever half marathon coming up in 26 days, so I'm going a bit lighter on the barefooting until afterwards, so I don't have any unexpected sorenesses. Right now I try do one or two runs a week barefoot...

So, who does post-run ice baths?

I'm a fan of ice baths as I'm a fan of ice baths as well. I actually just started them 2 weeks ago, but there is a noticeable difference in how I feel afterwards. Generally, I'll do them if I run 10+ miles. For anybody thinking of trying them, once you get in it isn't too bad :). I have a hot...

    Foot Mileage w/e Nov. 14

Had a 3-miler barefoot Had a 3-miler barefoot planned for this morning but I had some right-foot soreness (and some bruised toes from Saturday's run, grrr), so I had to run in my Frees. I'm hoping to get a few barefoot miles in Saturday after my 10K though, to relax and stretch out a bit.

Here's myself and 2 of the Here's myself and 2 of the other 3 brothers after a 5K a couple weeks ago. From right-to-left: Ryan (21), Dalyn (17), Rob (me, 29). Ryan ran the whole thing barefoot, Dalyn ran half barefoot, and I ran it in my brand new Bikilas. I have my Frees on in this photo...

    Running in the dark

So my main problem with running true barefoot (rather than a "barefoot stride" in Vibrams or Frees), is that my weekday runs are at about 5:00am, when it's still dark out, so I can't always see what I'm stepping on, and my Saturday runs are over 10 miles, which I don't want to rush into...

    Foot Going-ons Report, w/e Nov. 7

Ran 4.4 this morning in my Ran 4.4 this morning in my VFF Bikilas. I have a bruise on the ball of my left foot from accidentally kicking the curb on my run Saturday, so this will be my last run barefoot or in the VFFs until it heels, it was sore during today's run! Friday's run will be in my...

    San Diego RNR 060511 anyone?

I've been running (again) I've been running (again) for about 3 months now. I ran a lot when I was younger, but let my office job get the better of me :). I'm up to about 20 miles/week right now, and I've lost 20 pounds to boot, yay! TJ, I'll contact Ken Bob, it would be fun to meet up...

    Hello from Fabulous Las Vegas

TJ, I've never worked with TJ, I've never worked with Drupal, but I'm a PHP developer by trade, so I could figure it out. I've ran forums before too (one with about 35,000 members when I sold it), so I can give you a hand. Longboard, that might have been it. I saved the paper from it so I...

    San Diego RNR 060511 anyone?

Sara, I'd be interested in Sara, I'd be interested in running it. I have my first half coming up in December (the Las Vegas RNR), and another in February (Surf City, in Huntington), so June sounds about right for doing my first full!

    Hello from Fabulous Las Vegas

Okay, so maybe it's not so fabulous when you actually live here, but it sounded good :). I'm Rob and I'm a barefoot runner. This sounds like an AA meeting all of a sudden, doesn't it? Anyway, here's a bit of my story. I used to run a lot in high school (I was on the soccer team)...
