What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

I'm surprised its actually available out that way! Bare Lee... I recall you liked SN's rye IPA... You might want to see if they get the GL Rye of the Tiger. Its not out yet this year (came out last April) but when I see it I'm grabbing it. I really hope they keep making it. Not on the same level as Chillwave (a lot cheaper though), but I think a good notch above SN. Just IMO. And for a good lager their Dortmunder Gold is probably my favorite lager.

Oh yeah, after last night's Chillwave, I'm definitely brew-curious about Great Lakes. Plus I like the idea of supporting a Midwestern brewery. I'll be stopping back at Total Wine to peruse their overwhelming selection soon at a more leisurely pace. Yesterday I was in a rush and went straight for the Chillwave. Plus I have a coupon for a free cork-screw and wine tote bag. I love free stuff.

Thanks again for the rec! How's the
Lake Erie Monster™?

and
Commodore Perry® IPA?

Just what I was thinking. May be the best double IPA out there.
I'll reserve that opinion till I can try some. Up in the Pac NW, Walking Mans Homo Erectus is one of the best, but so is Firestone Walkers Double Jack, oh and Alameda has a really good one called Yellow Wolf. Um, the one I had a week or two ago was up there too, Oakshires Perfect Storm dbl IPA I think.... Ya I love my doubles.... :)

I'm gaining a little confidence in my connoisseurship, seeing my tastes sync with esteemed suds critics like Sced and Tristan. ssssssssssssssssssss
I think you may be getting me confused with someone else! haha! Is it bad to be on a runners forum but known for beer? I only started drinking beers around 3 years ago actually. But I definitely have worked hard and fast to be more competent at this, uh, 'hobby'. ;) My speed and endurance have also gone up proportionally so I have come to the conclusion I need more beer!

Lake Erie Monster as I recall was good too (but I think I liked Chillwave better). Commodore Perry was good for a normal IPA, nothing great but good. While I've not sampled all their stuff I do make it a point to try every GL beer I see on the shelf at the places I've been at least. My other favorites of theirs are Oktoberfest and Christmas Ale, both of course seasonal (and the Dortmunder Gold Lager I mentioned previously). I'm not a big fan of stouts, but they also make the Blackout Imperial Stout which was out a little while ago (may still have some on the shelves) I still pick up one 4 pack when it comes out though. I'll look up my notes when I'm home and see if I missed any I really like.

Just wish I could try some of the ones Nick and others out west have recommended! I've had a couple but not many that have been mentioned. Stone is for sure one of my favorites too! They make some great and unique IPAs.

Tristan I wish I could try more of your alls beer too. Guess the feeling is mutual. Sounds like the Great Lakes beer must be pretty big out that way. I havent seen that stuff out here at all. I think Dogfish is one of only brewers you've had that I have too.

Don't be silly. This is a beer forum for people who may or may not run. Everyone knows that. Now drink up.
Buuuuuuurp.

Abide... I got to say I've been happy with every single one I've tried from them. You have to like that Belgian style of theirs though, they all have that flavor in them.I think I picked up another one of theirs the same day, can't remember what it was off hand. Might try it out this weekend.

Yeah Nick you had the Three Philosophers. Thats one rich ale. I have a couple of them in the basement right now. I like it, but yeah I sip it, and if its in the 22ozer I cork it back up and that usually covers maybe 3 sessions. ;) For a more easy drinking one, I really like Hennepin or Rare Vos, or even the Hop House I just had, but you still have to like that Belgian yeast or whatever that flavor is that tends to be prominent in all of theirs.

Let's see...lately I've been drinking my own beer. I finally went for it and brewed an all grain (no extracts). Made a northwest style red, and dry hopped half the batch to alter the aroma, and therefore the flavor profile ever so slightly. All reports say it isn't bad! It is nice having two kegs at the ready in the ol' garage...
