Read an article posted in the other forum and one of the tips was the best running surface is hard and irregular, ie. cross country and trails. Seems to make sense, I need to find some trails to run on.

I agree with that. My driveway is gravel. I can almost walk upright on it, but no way can I run (yet). But when I put on my VFFs, I can run and feel some of the rocks, but they don't bother me much.

So when I want to run, I put on the VFFs. When I want to work on toughening up my feet, I walk barefoot on the gravel. Eventually I'll be able to run on the gravel (according to Ken Bob...my feet are in total denial about that). ;)
