I ran a part of the bid deal race event of the neighborhood yesterday morning. The Festival is a 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon run in Bethlehem, PA. It's set up to let people so inclined to run all three races as a "hat trick." I chose to run only the 10K, partly because I don't want to run three races in one weekend and partly because the price tag of multiple races is higher than I care to pay.

The weather was gorgeous, about 50F with light clouds and little breeze. The course of the race wound around through the older parts of Bethlehem, with modest hills and nice views of the river and parks. I did find that some of the new course took us over rougher roads than I remember from the last two years I ran this race, and my feet were challenged. It wasn't too bad though, and certainly not bad enough to slow me down.

I heard more BF friendly or curious comments from other runners than I ever recall hearing before. It was pretty cool. They were mostly of the "Wow! You must be tough!" or "Ow! Ow! I could never do that!" variety.

I ran it in 53:09, which is just a tad slower than last year (51:03), and shows significant slowing since 2012 (47:54). Oh well. I had fun and ran happily the whole way. I feel like if I lost 10 or 15 pounds I could probably get back that minute per mile, but I'm not going to sweat it too much. Peace!
