Ive had some quick comments from the public when I am running or walking barefoot. Most are pleasant, and some become discussions, rarely they are unpleasant.

Yesterday I had a patient who likes to run. We got talking and I mentioned that I have done several races barefoot. She told me that her grand-daughter had developed shin splints while running and her doctor had recommended that she try running barefoot. The patient's daughter was appauled. The patient seemed pretty open to the idea of running barefoot, but I could tell that she was going to tell her daughter that she had met someone who actually runs barefoot.

The other week... I had two out of shape ladies smoking cigarettes pulling their toddler in a radio flyer comment that I should put shoes on because they saw a copperhead next to the sidewalk. They had their toddler near the same copperhead and they were wearing flip flops! I'm not sure how those flip flops were going to stop the bite of a copperhead so I just kept running.
