NO BAREFOOT RUNNING MAKES RYAN GO CRAZZZZZZY

Good luck. Is this your first massage appointment?

You and me both, but for me it's only been a week. Second injury this year though, and totally over it. I pity all those who must know me in person if my issues take much time to heal. I started crazy, now I'll be crazy and horrible, for sure. Power to the crabbies!

I pity all of you for having to hear me whine about my woes. ;)

Me too :-(. I can still run, just not very much and its starting to get to me. I'm sick of the gym, I'm sick of working out at home, I just want to be able to run again without pain. Even when I do run I don't get much joy out of it. I'm too busy trying to decide if the discomfort is reaching a level that I should stop or just give up on it healing and just keep running. Its been since before thanksgiving that I was completely healed up.

Well for all our whining I don't think many or possibly any of us have had to go through as much issues as you have TJ.

Sorry about your troubles, AJB. I know it's difficult. I used to take it day by day, week by week, month by month; now I take it year by year. Sucks, I know. But having no hope is worse. I have decided that I will not have any running goals this year, and I think that decision has saved my sanity. I will walk-hobble if/when I am able to short distances, but I won't put too much pressure on myself at this point to expect anything out of it. I will just keep trying as I can keep trying, and when I can't, I will remember the promise I made to myself to not expect any real running for the rest of the year. Maybe taking the expectations out of it will help you to cope too?

This thread was about Ryan going crazy. Sorry, Ryan. How are you doing?

74, ummmm CHEESEBURGERS.... can't stop won't stop. nothing but the best! HA HA HA HA! Blue blue blue bayou! Ron Paul's coming over, get the raccoons out of here, damnit! Come on my honey, come on my baby, come on my ragtime gaaaaaaal! Jip jip neep neep. STOP LOOKING AT MY ENDOCRINE SYSTEM, UNCLE SAM! 74.

Oops, sorry, I had my foil hat on and my casio keyboard was plugged in. So I got graston massage yesterday- shiz hurrrrrts, but I'm hopeful. You know the PT was recommending I stretch, a lot. (Not sure I believe her.) I looked up some research on stretching, and there isn't much you can do to increase your flexibility- its genetic. You can make small increases, but really it won't help. I want to try more of the Graston, but what, should I tell her oh you should read some research.

I think flexibility is like anything else. There is a genetic component that can be pushed one way or another with help. I'm not naturally flexible and if I don't work at it I lose it, but when I am big into stretching, especially bikram style hot yoga stretching I get super bendy. Now I can't say whether this does or doesn't help with overall fitness, but being bendy has its uses at times. My work sometimes causes some bizarre sitting positions and bendyness is good for that.

Don't go to crazy. There is always cross training, certainly not the same but it helps control some of the insanity I find. I did get a kick out of your insane paragraph though. I've certainly had those days :-D.

TJ- yeah I've quit the goals for a bit. I'm just hiking a lot and calling it good. I run when I can and do something else when I can't. Eventually things will heal.
