Happy IBRD hangover day, or whatever this Monday is meant to be called.

I'm back at home after my holiday, so it's back to my standard 11km beach run. After a couple of weeks in the northern NSW sunshine, the chilly Victorian morning hit me pretty hard, but I warmed up soon enough and it was nice to be home. This morning I caught up with a fellow BF guy who I see a fair bit on the beach in the mornings, so I slowed down for a while and had a chat with him. Nice bloke.

First day back at work today, and I'm struggling!

Sunday, two miles, pretty pathetic IBRD, but I've never been good at holidays.

Monday morning 5K, still a very pleasant 50F at 3am. Nothing really to report, but I'm reporting it in case it fills me with the moral obligation to actually establish my morning 5K as a consistent wake-up ritual this week. This afternoon I'm going to try to establish the 3x5 protocol in my st. I'm feeling very pro-establishment I guess.

3.75 miles this morning, bit windy and nippy, especially at the flat area at the top of the hill which is becoming my usual weekday morning route.

With the bump in running mileage and days of running, I've been having gobloads of barefoot running dreams.

13.1 miles barefoot. Last long run before my half in 12 days. It felt good and steady. I even sped up the last mile and finished strong. Don't know if that is "proper" at this point in training, but I think it gives me a mental advantage at this point. Will take it easy from here on out.

While running, had strange encounters with feral cats and geese. The mama cat had 3-4 kittens by the side of the path and I couldn't tell it she was going to fling herself at me in their defense. Then, a goose with about 5 goslings tried to test my mettle on a couple of different laps while she and her babies stood near the side of the path. A fisherman that was walking with his poles out in front of him turned around suddenly just as I was passing. He had not heard me. Nearly whipped me with his long poles. Yeah, running around my pond loop was not boring today, for sure.

Strength training was digging holes and fence building today for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

2.7 really easy-paced miles this morning, just to loosen up the legs some for later today when I plan to run some hill repeats in the nature preserve.

50 minutes on treadmill in my vff speeds. Today was nothing special, max speed of 6 mph all kind of heart rate centered and keeping intensity level down. Felt pretty good. I almost have my sandals finished that I've been working on for an obstacle race at the end of the month. I will hopefully be able to test them out on treadmill tomorrow, and if that goes ok maybe I can go run some trails this weekend and see if I can't find me some mud to run in.

It doesn't happen often, but I try to make my presence known when coming up behind someone. I might exaggerate my breathing as if out of breathe (sometimes exaggeration is not necessary!) or I might clear my throat loudly a few times.

Good day all, "posting mileage slacker" here!

Lot's of things have been going one, it's been a bit busy, but here we go
    4/27 - 4 miles
    4/29 - 2.25 miles in pouring rain
    5/1 - 3 miles
    5/3 - 3 miles
5/4 - 6 miles (was very rough, can't wait until the street cleaner comes through to take care of the winter muck left on the side of the roads)
and today 5/6 - a smooth and quick 3 miles.

Now to see if I can stay on top of my mileage reporting.............

I slept in this morning and only had half an hour or so to run, so I decided to try and do a brisk-ish 6km around the streets. The ground was slightly warmer than usual, and it was a nice morning for a run.

I usually do, too, but I guess I was wondering if it was really necessary. Guess I know my answer!

    Ok, let's see.
    Sunday: 6, midmorning,
    lunch: some weights

    Monday:
    a little evening swim

Tuesday: 2.5 am, dawn, saw a crane at the lake's edge, and I believe it was a heron flying above me
late morning: about 4.5 mile hike, leisurely, until I realized I went way too far and in the wrong direction (thanks google maps), which would make me late for my dental appt., so it was followed by 1.5-2 mile run on the road back to where I'd parked my car.
    Absolutely beautiful morning.

20 minute run on treadmill in vffs today. My right hammy is acting up so I cut the run short.

1.75 miles in VFFs, road + golf course, took it steady after being laid up for a few days with some kind of allergic reaction, all seems good now though.

Ok, I'm at it again. Everything feels great after that half-marathon and I'm doing my daily walks and also my short 20 min runs on the treadmill after my workout :)
I'll try to increase to 22 min.. :D plus I'll put in a weekly outdoor trail run.
I'm registered for a 10K trail run consisting of nothing but hills. It's the 22nd :D

Sunday - IBRD run at Stone Mountain park, 5 miles total mix of run/walk and about 3 miles tempo pace. It was good
to run some local runners again.

Monday - 30 minutes trail running in the woods behind my house.

Tuesday - 1 hour run at Little Mulberry park...mix of gravel trails, grassy meadow cross county trails and horse
trails...still trying to adjust to the warmer temps. Pavement at the park was burning my feet just walking on it
    in the early afternoon.

Today - Decided to take today off from running doing work on my truck and running errands.

2 hr nap today. apparently i was tired.

    Line,
I'm curious as to why your slowly increasing your running time and then blowing it with super long races? why not just run longer or run shorter races?
