Got up early to run this morning (4:30 am) in my neighborhood before work as I didn't get a run in yesterday and the weather was outstanding too! Ran only 2.9 miles then the rain started and had to head home. Tried running BF but the rough asphalt proved to be to much for my feet at this point so put on VFF's and ran in them.

13.74 miles run up to here, Liddington hill fort, a lovely early morning workout.

Nice picture skedaddle!

Mid 50'sF and windy...kcked off my running week yesterday with 10 miles at the local Rabbit Hill park...this is the only flat place to run that's nearby. Did a slow warmup mile then a 4 mile mini-Maff test followed by some slower bit then a tempo mile to check my faster speed. Found a pancake flat oval pavement loop around a brand new football field for the tempo mile. Finished off with 3 miles around the older part of the park. Speed has picked up some averaged under 10 min/mile for the first time this spring...feets took some wear and tear on the tempo mile though...it will be awhile before I do anymore faster running.

Started the week off with a 12mi long run. I'm two weeks out from the big half marathon so that will be my longest run. Might do some speed intervals Tuesday and then start to taper, not sure. The 12mi run did leave some wear on my forefoot in the trouble spots so maybe I should lean towards less and taper now.

I really wanted to be able to easily do 13mi at a decent pace prior to the race, but it's been since last fall. Though I've done 12 miles now twice so hope I'll be good.

Out of commision for at least four more weeks.
According to my PT the right hip is on a locked position so as everyone knows the right hip is working overtime.
But I gotta said the I have had three PT sessions and the pain is for the most part gone just some discomfort here and there.
He's very impress of how well I am responding to treatment I ask him when I could go for a run and he said that most likely in for weeks but maybe sooner if I continue to improve at this rate...so that's good news.

1.61 miles this morning. Bright and beautiful morning at 56degF (felt much warmer, not used to the sun). I started out in my huaraches but was having issues with them so at about .3 miles I took them off and just ran the remaining all barefoot. Feet are still good with no hotspots so that's good. I am still trying to be good and not increase too much, but let me tell you today was really tough with it being so beautiful out. My right achilles is still a bit tight so that is letting me know that I am still in the re-transitioning phase again and I need to be very cautious. I'm glad I'm learning to actually read my bodies cues a bit now. Can't wait till I can take off for a 5 mile run again with no worries about doing too much.

Oh, and I've been really contemplating changing my diet a little bit again. I already eat only raw fruits for breakfast, and I am contemplating making my lunch a raw fruits and veggies meal as well. It's amazing how good I feel from these types of foods, but I guess it's hard letting go of what I've eaten my whole life (tasty but unhealthy food). It's also expensive to eat like that and it's hard to justify that extra expense to my wife when we are already strapped for cash. I guess this is partially doing the fruitarian thing, but for dinners I will still eat meat and whatever else the family is eating. Last summer I ate this way (although not with very much variety in my foods for breakfast and lunch) and I felt the best I've ever felt.

Sunday: this time I made it 1hr 52 min in the water (yes i timed it), almost continually swimming the whole time, almost all freestyle, half the time no toys, half the time paddles, fins, or some combo thereof. The kids were playing and didn't bug me nor nag the whole time. The crazy lady was there so who wants to stop at the wall where she often camps and deal with the yelling, and the last half an hour I had some young college swim team kid in his little speedos making me feel bad that an old lady couldn't at least swim continuously if she were to go that slow. Couldn't and wouldnt' want to know how many times I got lapped by that kid in a half an hour. So I kept going. Harder effort than yesterday, but breathing felt easier yet. I'm almost feeling like I can swim. Sorta.

Monday: 45 min on that super boring elliptical. It failed again to entertain me. I resent it but
feel a need for it. I hate conflicted relationships. good 45 min st, mostly abs, some legs, took it a bit easy on the arms/back/shoulders but still did a few.

Monday afternoon
"Bottom3" ST workout.

Didn't get to run yesterday. I came down with some cooties, then didn't nap, betting that they weren't going to amount to much, and sure enough, today I'm just draggy. Maybe it was the wine and cheese last night that did them in.

Really didn't feel like working out today though, but of course, now I'm glad I did, and I got a good pump.

I've settled on which Nordic Curl I like to do, it's this one:
Seems a lot better than just falling forward slowly with your back straight, which seems to be the standard version. I don't have anyone to stare at my behind while I'm doing it however. Just a weighted barbell, squat pad, and my over-priced rubber slab, which is identical to the one in the video.

And I found another use for the over-priced rubber slab! I put it on top of two 25lb plates while doing my calf raises. That way I get greater extension and have to work a bit more to maintain balance.

More snow forecast for tonight. This can't be happening.

Good news on the running front! I like that diet, as you know. All raw nuts, fruits, veggies, and some yoghurt during the day, then whatever everyone else is having at night, with reduced or no carbs (potatoes, rice). Works for me, and after a while things like chips will feel like a rock in your gut.

a lovely early morning workout.
Beautiful running country Ske!

It's probably from all the earthing you've done.

Sooner...that is good news...hopefully your PT is being extra cautious on the time...is it no exercise at all?

I think he is moka and sadly no exercise at all just the prescribed PT exercises...well some of them I was already doing but that's besided the point. What really is doing the trick is the manual manipulation he's doing which I didn't have with my previous PT and the best part is that he specialises(sp?) on spine issues and that's good.
If I have to rate my pain level from my first visit to right now there is a huge diference. The pain level right now is barely 1.5 way down from about 7 on a 1-10 pain scale 10 being the worst.
I feel like I could go running but I am NOT going to do it I am going to listen and stick with the advice and the rehab program even if it kills me-ok I've being drustic here but you know what I mean.:)

I would like to add that I have done some serious wire fencing lifting and bending, not to mention upper body repeats at various heights with the pneumatic staple gun. I have no strength left. Time for a rest.

Take a well deserve nap-you earned it.

Ya, let's just hope I can keep the running going smoothly. My legs are definitely out of shape thanks to not being able to run much the last few months, although today felt pretty good overall compared to how they have been. Ya, last summer I really enjoyed eating like this so hopefully it will treat me well again. For me, I don't really like to eat chips much, but it's pizza, chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream that are my kryptonite. I guess chips and salsa are a major weakness of mine too if it's in the house, thankfully it's not usually. Almost forgot, hope you get over your cooties quickly.

Hope your back on your feet soon! :) I must have missed it somewhere but how did you hurt your hip? Was it running BF?

Thanks!
No it wasn't beacuse of bfr.
I have a colapsible/unstable lower back due to a car crash many ions ago so my hips tend to hurt from time to time because of it. My left hip was bothering me a little and I went to play Volleyball, rotated wrong and BAM!!! the hip got very irritaded and here I am. Hopefuly for not too long.
