m-hobbled around school and took some naps.
t-limped around school. may have napped.
    w-walked gingerly
th-high tailed it out of school. spring break!
f-walked the dogs. the chafing scabbed over and is peeling off leaving sensitive pink skin exposed. hopefully i can run tomorrow.

Nick has his pick posted on Luna's FB page. post it here for all to see please.

Did a 2 level experiment today.... Decided to see if I could rollerblade 10 miles, after not even having been on the skates for 6 years, and see 1) if I could keep from crashing, and 2) if I can walk the next day. Positive results on #1, still waiting on #2. Definitely used some thigh and butt muscles in unusual ways; also learned about pavement variations from a new perspective. Stopped for all toddlers and slowed down for small children on bikes, although I had the greenbelt mostly to myself. Never faster than a 7 minute mile because I need to work on my stopping skills before I approach warp speed. I was accompanying my youngest on her long run by being active on the path, because I don't like her on those paths by herself, but I wasn't up to running today. Feels strange to be merely walking now. Really did have fun so may have to add this to my spring and summer agenda.

What did I miss? Why are you hobbling?

He's hobbling because he overdid it during the 15k race... Jen is probably yelling at him as I type this because she is kind of a mother hen towards him. ;)

Mike, I will try to get my pictures on here. I seem to have a hard time posting pics on this site unless I shrink pics first.

    Friday afternoon.
Very nice conditions at 42F/32F windchill, so added a mile to my run-commute home.

Then Cable/Pulldown ST: neutral grip pulldown, wide grip pulldown, underhanded pulldown, straight arm pulldown, face-pull and triceps with rope, then seated rows--triangle grip and neutral grip. That's a lot of cable-yanking!

    Saturday morning.
Checked my cell phone this morning, it said 26F. OK, no problem, one-mile run-commute. Surfaces were almost completely dry except for a few ice patches here and there. But when I got to my office, Accuweather said it was 15F/-7F windchill, which is -9.5C/-21.7C. So, technically, a new coldest barefoot run. I had to add a new, Winter Challenge 5-degree-celsius column to my Excel log. Too bad I didn't know what the true temp/windchill was, or I would've added a few miles. It was cold, but bareable. Just as there's a huge difference between dry and moist, as to bareability, there's a pretty big difference between true temp and windchill I guess.

Hmmn, now I'm thinking of taking the long way home to Como Lake and back, to rack up some more 'coldest' -- qua windchill -- miles. It's 8F/-10F windchill right now, but the sun is out, no clouds, and the surfaces should be mostly dry. I got my Sockwas as backup, so why not try? Wish me luck . . .

58 minute run to Harbins park and back...warm day in the mid 60'sF. Two little dogs tried to chase me...first one I stopped running and tried to pet it but it got bored and walked back home. 2nd dog ran out of control and wiped out in the grass...its owner caught it there and picked it up...one of the very rare times I've seen a loose dog owner watching out.

I did 3.03 miles barefoot around town on Monday with my dog. It was nice. I also did 3 miles BF on 3/14, but my computer was in the shop so I didn't get to report it in the correct week.

Well, didn't quite make it yesterday. As I was running up Como Ave towards the lake, I hit a few ice patches that nearly did me in. Not knowing what to expect around Como Park, but remembering last year that there were a few places where large slush puddles had accumulated, I decided to turn off onto my fairgrounds street and just run back and forth on that. It was bone dry. If I got in trouble I would only be a mile or so from home. I hadn't prepared for the 8F/-10F windchill, and so only had my thin wool gloves and no balaclava. My face and hands got pretty cold in the wind, but the feet felt ok after the initial numb-plunge. Later in the day however, I noticed my second left toe was pretty red and a little painful, so I did manage to get a little frost nip on it. Today it feels fine though, just a little crispy.

I walked the last .7 mile in my Sockwas, so 5.19 miles total running, my new PR for coldest run.

When I got back I did a brief version of my "Top" ST workout, the first time I've done it since getting a sore left shoulder while shoveling a month ago. I did everything light to see how my left shoulder would hold up. Seems OK today, so next time I'll push the presses and raises a bit more. Tried power snatches with dumbbells, but they felt awkward and my garage ceiling is still too low, so I'll just have to stick to doing the power snatches wide-grip with a barbell and lots of small, 5-lb plates. Might have to run out to Play it Again Sports to stock up on some more 5-lb plates.

So, a little more than 45 miles on the week (45.29), minus the one mile I walked in the snow in my Neo Trails, means a little more than 44 miles running, all bare.

sat-took the dogs and child to hike. i was left behind with the dogs so i took a different trail and i ran, a little. the old dog doesn't follow as well as mine. he comes and goes as he pleases. i was trying to wear them out for their grooming appt. while they slept on the way there they were wide awake once in the store.

Nick, you said something similar and i already erased the text. i'm just mad :rage: i didn't get to try on your mgt lunas! :playful:

Hmmm, I remember telling you what I was planning on running, around hour and thirty minutes if I could, and you telling me you planned on running close to two hours.... I also mentioned that I was riding with a friend down there and wasn't sure if I would be able to meet up before hand.... Nice twist of memory Mike. :) I love my mono's and am still able to hold my form in them pretty well. I don't think I am one of those people that can go much thicker than these though or my form goes to hell. Not sure what it is about these that allows me to hold my form better than some shoes that are the same thickness.

20km/12.4mi yesterday morning. I went all the way to Bondi and back along the coast on the beautiful walk path.

A bit crowded, but nice. Temperatures start to feel more like Autumn

Why the extra 5 miles after the race?
No comments good enough for print?
