Wife went to podiatrist and asked why her big toe with the bunion didn't bend as far as the one without.
"It's just your anatomy," the podiatrist responds.

Wow, genius! He went to school for that?
His solution was to give a cortisone injection for pain.

She opted for observation.
I've had some improvement with my bunion doing daily stretches and exercises. Maybe I can convince her to give it a try.

run away from any Dr who wants to give cortisone shots. that s destroys tissues.

After working repeatedly with security shoes on, my husband developed a painful bunion on one foot. He went to a podologue (french term which translates apparently as "chiropodist" ), who treated the condition by moulding some kind of soft plastic (?) in the space between first and second toe. This device, once hardened, had to be worn for a couple of weeks. And the bunion was healed: it was completely reversed after some time. I should add, that this was done in the very early stages of the bunion - I have no idea if this would work with an old and kind of settled in bunion.

What about the Correct Toes separators, they are brilliant. I've used them for a few years to get rid of a small lump on the left outer foot and to get the little toes back to point in the right direction.
