Greetings! I'm new here although I started barefoot running/walking three years ago. I used to run marathons from 1980 to 1995 until I decided to "retire" due to a recurring knee pain/swelling whenever I do long runs. In 2009, I was able to make a marathon comeback when I incorporated barefoot running in my training. After doing a solo ultra-run in Mindanao (Davao-Iligan 400 km) - with running shoes, I ran/walked the Camino de Santiago - starting at the foothills of the French Pyrenees to the Northwestern city of Santiago de Compostela in Spain in July 16 - August 9, 2010. It took me 27 days to cover 800 kilometers, mostly barefoot. I posted my diary in my blog and video-photo on you tube: http://amadopicardal.blogspot.com/p/camino-pilgrims-diary.html
wow! Glad you found your way here, Padre, welcome! Have you looked into publishing your story? A lot of people wuold find great inspiration in it!
Padre, I would like your story for a new forum I'm creating here called Success Stories. If you will and are interested, please email me at BarefootTJ@TheBarefootRunners.org. I'll announce this officially for all, but if anyone wants to send me their success stories on how barefoot/minimal running has helped you overcome some injury or problem, please email me your story. Thanks!
Sure, TJ. I would like my story to be shared. But I would like to make clear from the start that barefoot running is just one of the factors that helped make a comeback and do ultra run-walk adventures. I also combined the Galloway method and chi-running.
Willie_g, that is a chapter of the MS (Beloved: Memoirs, Diaries & Letters of a Priest) which I will submit for publication next year.
