    Get Ready! International Barefoot Running Day is on May 6!

    International Barefoot Running Day (IBRD) takes place on Sunday, May 6, this year. Be sure to run barefoot on that day. Better yet, run with some friends. Consider hosting a friendly get-together run or join one in progress. To see events building around the world, please visit http://www.thebarefootrunners.org/pages/IBRD/.     2012 International Barefoot Running Day™ (IBRD™)

    The Barefoot Runners Society (BRS) is proud to announce the 2nd annual International Barefoot Running Day™ (IBRD™) on 6 May 2012.

    After our smashing success last year, we hope to double the turnout this year. IBRD is a grassroots, inclusive effort to promote barefoot running as a healthy and viable way to run. It’s also about having fun and delighting in the idea of running barefoot with thousands of people worldwide on the same day.

    • HOW FAR: Fun runs of 1km and 5km; some locations may have other distances as well

    Wow those shirts are kinda expensive. Maybe if you bought them in bulk and sold it here, it would be cheaper for everyone.

    It would be a difficult thing to do, as we don't have the money upfront to buy merchandise, then to know how much of each type of shirt and size of shirt to buy, then have to store it all, then have to handle it all with packaging them up when someone ordered them, then have to go stand at the post office and ship them out and pay for that too. I hope you understand, but it just isn't feasible for the small group of us running the BRS to do.

    If you get the basic Tshirt option its around 20 dollars. That's not too bad in comparison with the price you might pay for an everyday Tshirt. Plus you get the benefit of being a walking piece of propaganda for the BFR cause. Does it get any better than that?!?

    My wife is wearing the T-Shirt and getting our flyers out in the community. Plan to double the numbers this year! Just ran the 3 miles on the beach at an 8:20 pace. Heaven!

    I am signed up for a 10K on May 5th (don't know if I'm up to doing the whole thing bare...), so I will celebrate IBRD by putting those bare feet up somewhere. Is that good enough?:)

    Slovenia is going strong! We expect record number of barefoot ruuners, more than 100 already applied :)

    And today we have are moment of glory on biggest commercial TV network in Slovenia, POP TV

    Thanks TJ!

    Yes, I know, I don't now how to translate everything - we talked about barefoot running in general, minimalistic footwear, possible injuries and IBRD on Sunday.
    Last year we had 60 runners, this year we'll surpase this number for sure.

    I still gather data and photos, but I already can say, that we hosted about 120 runners and at least one dog! The youngest runners was less than 2 yr old, the oldest was 80. Rain and wet pavement couldn't stop us - puddles were pure joy :)

    Whole report tommorow, still excited and happy! Hope you all had a great IBRD!!

    We also collect more than 100 pairs of used footwear for charity.

    Sounds like an awesome event, Marko! You guys rock! Looking forward to the report.

    Just looked at the pictures. Wow! That looked like a great time. I wish I could have been there to take part in the lunch too. I would have LOVED running in the rain with you all!
