He certainly possesses the intellect to evaluate the merits/downsides of barefoot running, but it's unclear whether or not he would have previously examined this issue as an infectious diseases doctor. Perhaps, email him so that he can read up on the topic?

I've heard him interviewed several times. A solid critical thinker on many topics, but yes, infectious diseases and medical research are his things.
