Canadian TV does report on shoes ...

CBC Marketplace does a piece on Shoes. Do they make you a better runner? They interviewed Dr. Irene Davis ... she talks about impact loading shod vs barefoot

Interview

They also discuss sport drink and power bar. It showed the amount of fat and sugar these products use. It also tested the blood of recreational runners and a triathelete, showing that they need to exert themselves to the max to actually require food. After 45 mins, the runners were only slightly dehydrated. The triathelete needed 75 mins at 25km/hour (15mi/hr) to show signs of glucose levels dropping.

Episode

I think this confirmed my thinking. Natural is the key, for both footwear and diet. The shoes, sport drinks, and bars are big business. The true value is in eating a healthy diet, by avoiding sugars and fat.
