My wife and I and several other family members spent a week in Ogunquit, Maine at the end of June.
Ogunquit is a beautiful little beach town in southern Maine. I spent pretty much the entire week barefoot. We either walked most everywhere in town or rode the Ogunquit Trolley, which is like an open-air bus. I visited a lot of little shops, bars, and restaurants, including a candy store and a bakery - all shoeless. While I didn't see any other barefoot patrons, I got no negative reactions to my barefeet, and several positive comments from shop-owners. One said to me, "Nice to be able to go barefoot after this winter, huh?"
Almost every shop had a sign about not bringing food or drinks into the store, but not a single sign about footwear. As a bonus, we spent a night in New Hampshire on the way home and got to do some nice barefoot hiking on Pack Monadnock mountain. All in all, a great barefoot vacation week!
