Inc.com
This week, Inc. editors and writers talk about the $2 billion "barefoot" running industry, how Burning Man has become a hotbed for entrepreneurs, and ...

Are they freaking kidding me? How in the hell can you make $2 billion off of nothing on your feet?! I will never figure this out. sigh.

"In this episode, staff writer Will Yakowicz discusses the $2 billion "barefoot" running industry. Practitioners of barefoot athletics--which include runners, water sports aficionados, and extreme sports enthusiasts--actually wear peculiar-looking thin rubber-toed shoes that have individual spaces for each digit. The industry was propelled by Chris McDougall's 2011 book Born to Run and a Harvard study that delves into the evolutionary biomechanics of barefoot running."

At least the writer put barefoot in quotes, and said that they wear peculiar shoes. There can be some money in that.
