Thanks guys appreciate the feedback. Time constraints for me are the desire to sleep 8 hours and having 2 active kids :)

My El Scorcho 50K Training Plan - Constructive Feedback Welcome!

I have to ask, being new to looking at Ultras... the mileage other than the LSR is a lot lower than I expected :) I always thought I wouldn't have time to train for an ultra but looking at that plan makes me think maybe I am overestimating the other miles required during the week.

    Going Overboard

Last month I completed my first Half ever. My goal was to beat 2:30 and I crushed it, 2:18:45 chip time. I was pretty darn happy! So happy I went and got my new tattoo a couple days later. Anyway, I haven't really had time to start transitioning to barefoot :( I was finding (as warned by so...

    The Winter Blues

I was trying too hard to transition and still get my normal runs in training for my upcomming Half, and it was a disaster. Blisters, loss of form, serious leg pain... I was doing too much. I have 25 days until my first Half ever and I have backed off any real transition attempt for now to...

    Probiotics

I take a bunch just because they happen to be in my Vibrant Green powder that is part of my daily protein shake. If you do get them you need to store apporpriately. Usually in the freezer. THe minute you open the container they start losing their effectiveness.

When I try and squeeze my feet into the Vibrams with Injinis on I am really squished.

Hah, I'm a Georgia boy myself! Grew up in Athens and then Cartersville. Cartersville had no such thing as a plow, when it snowed school was out till it melted and we sledded on the roads :)

Snow was over 3 feet deep in most place... I couldn't run it in a snow suit let alone barefoot :) Many of the roads in our area were plowed once the night of the storm and still have tons of snow on them, to the point where people are trying to use personal snowblowers to clear them so they can...

    Blisters. Yeck.

So I've been trying to wear Vibrams everywhere that I can to help work on foot strength. I had noticed some hotspotting the other day, and today it bothered me a ton when I was trying to get a run in with my old shoes. Taking the socks off revealed a nasty blister on the inside heal of both...

Do Minimalist Shoes Really Simulate Barefoot Running?

I read the article... my major beef would be that they took 22 shod runners, put them in minimalist shoes, and expected them to suddenly run differently. Seems to me they should have tested barefoot runners with and without. *shrug*

    We got 40" of snow.

You must be near me... I got 34 or so. What a storm. Was supposed to do 8 miles today, will have to do it on the treadmill :(

Storm of the century heading for New England!

Snow drifts over 4 feet in my yard. Yesterday there was no snow on the ground. Booo hisss.

2 feet of snow and I am just starting out...

So it figures I would start wanting to run barefoot the week we get a 2 foot snow storm. It's not like I was going to go out and run the roads right away anyway, but it's a little hard to even START outside barefoot when temps are 20d and the snow is now threatening my thighs. I have been...

    Hello from CT

Got on the treadmill bareoot and did 5 minutes. I really am having a hard time finding the form. Maybe it's because I am on a treadmill and not truly outdoors, or maybe it's because it was so cold on my porch that my feet were getting a bit numb :) Every once in a while I felt like I nailed...

I ordered some Xeros after seeing them on Shark Tank. Got both a 4mm and 6mm sole set just to see the difference.

    Hello from CT

I have also found the last few sessions with my trainer at the gym wearing the Vibrams has given me a better sense of stability on my squats and lunges. I'd go barefoot but they really don't like that idea :)
