I went barefoot into a library...

... and nothing, really nothing happened! Can you imagine that? Well, it helps to be the librarian! :D I should add: it is probably the smallest library in France (about 10 square meters surface), privately run (no pun intended :D) by volunteers like myself. The only person who came in during...

New years resolutions and have you broken them yet?

My resolution was to start running again after 6 months of PF induced rest. Problem was: I did a first run just after Christmas (couldn't wait) and obviously overdid it. :( Still horrible pain in the foot - couldn't even begin yet with my new year's resolution...

    Climate Change?

Of course you can! Stop eating baked beans! :D The real problem is: how are we going to stop elephants from farting? :D What means "to live a better life" for you? what is "better" compared to what exactly in your life as it is just now? In my own life I chose to produce myself the maximum of...

Hi Cristian, The site is quite alive! What you did is this: you posted in the Blog section - every member can have a personal Blog, which may or may not arouse comments. If you wish to exchange and discuss things about being/running/walking barefoot, try to post in the Forum section instead. You...

    Me and My Maf Zone

Hello all, Two years ago my Maf rate was 130 - and still I've got problems to keep beneath this magical number during my outdoor runs - I couldn't even dream about going down to 128 as I should: All roads seem to lead uphill as soon as I step out of my door, which often means that I have to...

    Making minimalist shoes

Hi Blu3yy, Have a look here: http://www.thebarefootrunners.org/threads/do-it-yourself.15883/ In some of the links you might find what you are looking for! :) I made a pair of mocs out of felt (as a cheap way to learn how to) with a paint-on latex-sole. Used them as slippers inside the house...

    Running Across America Barefoot

I don't know, but on the picture it looks like he's heel striking!?

"Foot Fungus Is Better in America"

Funny story! :) I'm always amazed at what kind of things (in this story: foot fungus and going to the toilet) are considered as "embarrassing" by people in other countries. I wonder if these same people would be amazed at what kind of things I myself feel embarrassed.

Can you run a marathon in thongs? You bet you can

Well, as far as I've understood, she is a heel striker - and that was exactly my point: it's not possible to wear this kind of shoes which lack a heel strap and continue barefoot style running, which implies coming down on the fore- or mid foot.

Bare feet required to work at London company

Well, actually I was not kidding: If I visit a friend's house just to share coffee/cake and a talk, I won't stay long enough to get sweating feet. On leaving I'll take the socks off and once home I'll throw them in the washing machine (and wash my feet as well). No problem with disease: my...

Can you run a marathon in thongs? You bet you can

I don't get it: Wearing tongs forces me to heel strike or else they will eventually fall of my feet. I suppose it would be possible to grip them between first and second toe, but this is a tiring and unnatural movement: normally my toes spread out instead of cramping together when the foot comes...

Bare feet required to work at London company

Well, I've got a hunch that you are supposed to wear shoes during commute and then take them off before entering to keep the carpet and sofas clean, as she says: "Well, it keeps the carpet clean," says Levete drily. "Also it's a great leveller, and it's relaxing: you can put your feet on the...

XERO SHOES NEW Z-TREK SANDALS REVIEW

Hi Paul On the picture the sole seems to be somewhat longer than the tips of your toes. Did you also try to slip your feet a bit more forward in the sandals (that would ask for changing the tension of all the straps, I suppose) ? There is a possibility that your little toe would feel less...

whats your favorite surface to walk/run bf?

I like dirt paths. Sand as running track for horses is nice; Sand as beach is awful. Grass is certainly not safe: there are often hidden stones, thistles or nettles or even deep holes you can't see, but it cools the feet down after a run on hot asphalt. But then there is grass and grass: Special...

what do you think about my gymnastics teacher told me about bf run?

I suppose the gym teacher is simply not aware that barefoot runners run on their fore-or mid foot. If for herself running necessarily equals heel striking, well she's not wrong: heel striking does cause ankle and knee problems - with or without shoes.
