    Barefoot Running no D/C!

Just received an email from the ITU that barefoot running (totally barefoot) is now acceptable and will not cause a DSQ result! I've emailed them back with thanks and I asked them why the change of heart. Will follow up when I get more information

    Ontario Triathletes

Hi, If there are any triathletes from Ontario, I just thought I would let you know that I have an email response from TriCan and they are intending on still DQing athletes who run barefoot in triathlons. I tried to explain there is no safety issue, but they would not relent. They are...

Barefoot running after a Knee replacement???

Alright this is going to be hypothical mostly. I was talking with my wife's uncle, and he recently (this fall) just had surgery for his knee and had a total knee replacement. He was stating that his doctor stated he can never run again (not that he was much of a runner before). I inquired if...

If your thinking about running Scotiabank Toronto Marathon

Hi, This is just a heads up to anyone running (or thinking of running) the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon this year. I just recieved an email from the race dirrector that the chips are NOT barefoot friendly. They are required to be worn flat within the laces of your shoes. The...

My walk with my Barefoot running clinic

I just wanted to tell you all about a story about my barefoot running clinic that occurred yesterday. Anyways yesterday instead of a run since I’m training relatively new barefoot runners I decided to talk a bit about barefoot living, and going along with this theme go for a walk around...

    Running Room update

Just an update on my continuing saga with the running room.... A recap first. The running room is a running store mostly in Canada and some parts of the USA. They also teach running clinics anywhere from the 5km clinic, to the marathon clinic. I’ve had the pleasure of being the clinic...

I was in my local newspaper

An article of me in the newspaper. I was the second time I've been in the paper for running. The first time was when I won the Bermuda (walking) marathon. Not to much of an accomplishment since I ran it in shoes. http://www.durhamregion.com/sports/article/176217

    Barefoot Running Clinic

I met with my gym recently and we set a time for me to teach a barefoot running clinic. The clinic will be a 10 week program designed to teach runners or anyone in general how to run barefoot. Participants should be able to run/walk a 5km race by the end of the clinic. Total cost of the clinic...

    I'm 3 and 0 now

Ok I'm now 3-0! Three long indoor track sessions this year and not once confronted by management for my barefeet. I'm beginning to think I'm safe for the winter, afterall the only shoe rule is that you cannot wear spikes on the track.

    Barefoot running clinic

Ok, So my gym doesn't want me to run BF on the treadmill anymore. After speaking to the managers at great length, the reason why is that several members at the gym have complained that everyone should be wearing shoes for "hygenic" reasons. The managers apparently agree with me that this...

Feeling like a bit of a hypocrite

So I'm preparing for another BF run today. I'm inspecting my running apparel shorts with Nike logo, Tank top made by Adidas, Hat and fuel belt with running room logo. I feel like an avertisement for shoes yet am not wearing any. Mind you I've been a runner for a really long time and most of...
