    Wet Roads

Okay, I've been barefoot running for a few years now. Furthest run has been 10 miles, but I'm pretty sure I could do a half marathon without ill effect. My question has to do with wet roads. I find them to be uncomfortable. I thought they would be okay after a couple of miles in 34 degree...

    Bone Density In Barefoot Runners

Any research on bone density in barefoot runners? I went to a health screening yesterday sponsored by the local running shoe store. They had a bone density device there I have never seen before. Something that measured sound waves through the malleous and came up with a "T-score." My value came...

    Barefoot Running Hats

I'm thinking of embroidering some hats for barefoot runners. Need some advice on what type of hat you like the most (trucker's mesh or FlexFit), and what words if any you would like to see on the hat. The ideas I had where a barefoot with "You Forgot Your Shoes" or "Doesn't That Hurt"...

    Southbound

I am so enjoying this book about two sisters who hiked a good portion of the AT barefoot. I've only read 75 pages but like reading, "I marveled at how quickly I had become accustomed to walking barefoot with a pack. My feet wrapped themselves around roots and rocks, and I easily shifted my...

    Boston Barefoot Running Festival

I just came back from the 2-day BBRF. Highlights for me were meeting and talking to BF runners from all over the country - Florida, Ohio, New York and many states in the Northeast. It was encouraging to hear their about their struggles and victories on their journeys with barefoot running...

    Pacific Crest Trail

I have hiked/run different parts of the PCT in California and Oregon, but never barefoot. The books I have read on the PCT always talk about the nightmares of blisters and your choice of boots. Is through hiking the PCT even possible? The lava beds of Oregon are pretty gnarly.

    Shin Splints

Since cushioned shoes allow heel striking and over striding with the foot dorsiflexed on each landing, could this constant dorsiflexion causing the anterior tibialis to contract be a causative factor in the anomaly we know as shin splints? I've never had shin splints that I can remember...

    Women's Xero Shoes - Free!!!

Okay, so I bought my wife these Xero shoes because I liked mine so much. They just didn't quite fit her idea of ideal fashion foot wear, so I am offering them here to you minimalist fans. Perhaps it was the color. I am color blind! The soles are salmon and the laces pink. Feminine right...

    Trails vs Roads?

I am new to this forum and new to BF running. I just completed my longest barefoot run yesterday - 6 miles on an asphalt bike path. I have run 8 ultras from 50k to 100 miles and I cannot wrap my mind around doing any of these courses BF. Is it easier to run BF on trails or roads? I am...

    Stretching..Who Does and Who Doesn't?

Some comments were made in another thread about stretching and I didn't want to take that thread off topic. I've been running for 38 years, 13 marathons and 8 ultras. I started stretching when I started running in 1975 after reading George Sheehan's first book on running. Over the years I...

    First BF Race

I have to admit that I am a bit nervous about my first BF race tomorrow. It is four miles on city streets. I think my soles are okay and I no longer have any issues with my lower legs, but I know I will be the only BF runner present of 500 entries and I just don't want to face all the...

    Skidding

I have read in the BF literature about skidding. What is it and what can you do to prevent it?
