WARNING: Rated R - May not be suitable for all audiences -- Hottest Female Athlete?

I believe she's a golfer, she certainly looks like she knows her way around a stiff shaft. ;) Also, the tip of the trophy is a golf ball I believe.

    Nike needs a dictionary!

*Looks at picture, looks at Invisible shoe on his desk and back to the picture.* Yup. Looks about right.

    Would you...

Well said. If it works and allows you to function normally, is there any reason you shouldn't take it? I can't see one. As with any strong drug it's a matter of balancing desired effects and side effects.

Anyone wanna watch me crash and burn? Barefoot 100 attempt coming up

Willie: Good beer? An oxymoron in my book. Thanks for the offer though, I'm heading your way tomorrow. See you in a year or so. ;) TJ: I chose not to run. I know cold well enough to know my limits and the conditions were way past them for the gear I brought. A little perspective on the race...

    Hydration Packs or other options

I have two packs, one is an Osprey Manta 25 with a 3 liter bladder. The other one is a North Face Enduro 13. Both serve a purpose, the Osprey works well on warm days when I need to drink a lot and the other one works well for just about everything else. I like the flexibility of having two small...

Anyone wanna watch me crash and burn? Barefoot 100 attempt coming up

Thanks for all the well wishes but I DNS'd. Why? Two reasons. First, I decided to leave my trusted wool socks and thermal tights at home and it snowed heavily last night and all morning. Not only was it colder than what I had clothes for, the snow was bad enough to force the organizers to move...

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

Please ignore what I said about Ahcuah's math being off earlier. I was tired and not thinking straight, it happens from time to time.

Anyone wanna watch me crash and burn? Barefoot 100 attempt coming up

Thanks, TJ. I'll need all the luck I can get for sure. My longest training run was 4 hours, or about 30 km so to say that I'm not really trained for the distance is the understatement of the decade. As I've said before I'm perfectly fine with dropping out at 50 miles if I have to.

Anyone wanna watch me crash and burn? Barefoot 100 attempt coming up

This is getting way too real. I've just packed everything I need for the race since I'm leaving for Stockholm tomorrow. Still more than a week to go before the race but I'll be staying with my parents for the coming week up until race time. I've got a few workouts left before the race, one...

    Future Research Ideas?

I second what TJ said about experience. I think the hardest part in designing a good experiment is to find people experienced enough with barefoot running to take part in it. An even bigger problem if you're in some way going to compare barefoot and shoes is that these people need to be used to...

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

The way I've understood good running form is that vertical motion is bad which makes higher turnover superior at just about any pace in terms of efficiency. At any given frequency and ground contact time your vertical motion will be the same regardless of speed, right? I guess what I'm trying to...

    over pronation video

I'm not a doc but I don't see anything I'd call overpronation in that video. Pronation, yes, but nothing that would need correcting. Also, in my opinion a stable shoe would be the wrong way to go if there was something to correct, the only way to correct pronation that actually works is find...

    Running on gravel

Bend your knees, relax and experiment. The smoother and more relaxed you are, the easier it is to run on rough surfaces. The moment you tense up is when it starts to hurt so trust your feet and just relax.

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

TJ, I've read those same studies and I'm not disputing them. What they've done in most cases though is they've used a lot of cushioning for the tests, similar to what you'd find in a running shoe. This is where the problem is in my opinion, nobody has ever tried to find the limit of where...

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

Theories are fun. Plus, I'm kind of tapering so I think about running more than I run. ;) Oh, and I love you too, of course. Now, my final attempt to explain my position. First of all, I'm not talking about a cushioned shoe as in the big fluffy pillows you'll find in a running shop, I'm...

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

It has everything to do with fatigue, in my opinion. If you train barefoot most of the time so that you have lower legs that are in good shape and you then add some cushioning come race day it should mean that since you've taken some of the load of absorbing impacts off of your lower legs you...

New Study shows Shod running more efficient??

This. Or if you look at it another way, why are people's feet and calves so weak when they start running barefoot? It's not that they're not used to running in most cases. Sure, it's a different gait cycle we teach and recommend but still, the shoes do a lot of the work that the lower legs and...
