Rick - when is your Grand Canyon hike? I'll be there mid-month and hope to do the rim-to-rim. North to south, maybe.

    Hood To Coast

Cascade Lakes looks like it costs about the same as Hood to Coast. Like HtC they use a lottery to pick from the total entry pool of teams.

    Hood To Coast

Would anyone be interested in doing the Cascade Lakes Relay instead of HtC? CLR is in central Oregon (finishing in Bend) in early August. Fewer than 3,000 runners over a similar distance to HtC with over 12,000 runners and abysmal traffic. Not as insanely crowded, easier to get into, same format...

    Preparing to Die

I'm not sure the maps would've helped us. I swear the sign said to bear right... or was that the bear chorus, Jen?

Barefoot Running in the Pacific Northwest

I can't speak from personal experience, but a BF runner in Portland mentioned that he runs year-round, which means a lot of running on wet pavement (in his case). He's still cruising on some long runs this summer, so I don't think his pads have had much trouble adapting.
