    Persistant Ball of Foot Pain

I was not happy with the lack of diagnosis from the podiatrist. He was ignorant on the topic of BF running.

    Persistant Ball of Foot Pain

By the way, I'm reading that bones can and do get thicker under certain conditions. Wolf's Law? Bones adapt to the loads they are placed under. http://www.maturitas.org/article/S0378-5122%2804%2900111-2/abstract http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18769962

    Persistant Ball of Foot Pain

UPDATE: Podiatrist wasn't UNfriendly to being BF, although he wasn't friendly, either. He mentioned how the heel strike during running would cause stress. *facepalm*. Anyway, got x-rays, no stress fracture! He wasn't sure what is was, suggested resting for 2 weeks, then slowly ramping up my...

    Persistant Ball of Foot Pain

I've been living BF or min for a year 1.5 years, slowly increasing mileage with my runs- built up to 3 miles, but I stopped because I started a new job and had to adjust o my new schedule. I got back into it a few months later, slowly building mileage until oops- went too far and I strained my...

Should I listen to this Masai from Kenya

Huaraches. Some of his advice didn't make sense, like I should walk on the balls of my foot

Should I listen to this Masai from Kenya

I met him while running, said I needed a longer stride, and push off with my feet. Thoughts?

Coming back from injury- advice please

I've never been a stretcher- always had very tight hammys. Every PT I've been to marvels how I need to stretch them. I recently read a NY times article on stretching, which revealed it really doesn't do anything for you, but its not necessarily BAD for you.

Coming back from injury- advice please

Thanks! I'll do just that. Time is not an issue for me anymore. In my shoe days of running I hated it. HATED it. But I was driven by time. Now, since my awakening, I don't care about how long it takes, or how fast I run. Just like to do it.

Coming back from injury- advice please

Had an annoying calf strain, received the graston technique from my PT, which was very helpful. I'm now pain free, even jogged around with the kids this past weekend. I was at a max of 3.5 miles prior (min shoes or BF for the last year and a half, ran a 5 K last summer) and I plan on starting...

Yes, first time. Didn't get much treatment yet- just eval. Very BF friendly tho, unlike primary doc, and 2 podiatrists.

    Reflexology

Reflexology is bunk, it doesn't work. Its nothing more than a foot massage. (from Quackwatch.com) The first study I know of was supervised by William T. Jarvis, Ph.D., a professor who taught research methods to graduate students at Loma Linda University. Using questionnaires, 70 subjects...

Trigger point massage made it worse?

Pain is on the side of my leg- closer to knee, at the thickest part of my calf. I've been resting it and resting it- tried to run a easy mile, and it started to hurt, so I stopped. A week later, no pain, ran 2 miles, no problem. Later that day. Pain. I'm about to jump off Ben Franklin Bridge
