    Vivobarefoot Ultras vs Neo?

I have done quite a lot of runs in the Neo (and some in a new "Neo Mesh" sample shoe) and I'm now trying out the Ultra. You can see what I think HERE. Which running shoe do you think is better and why?

    New Book: "Running Desperado"

Hey folks, I'd like to let you know about a Kindle book that I've written charting my progress over a number of years. It is largely diary style but with a few diversions to talk about ideas behind what's (IMHO) still wrong with some minimalist shoe designs and other stuff. It is not written as...

Firefox grinds to a snail pace

I normally use Firefox 3.6.15 (under Win 7) but notice that not long after starting a BRS tab and looking at a few forum postings the whole of Firefox grinds to a snail like pace making it largely useless. I tried the BRS site under Chrome and it runs OK except for an error mentioning that a...

    Terra Plana "Neo" anyone?

I see Terra Plana have a new shoe called the "Neo" which looks a bit like the "Evo" but are less money. For me the main problem with the Evo II was that it rubbed my Achilles heel tendon area (even with socks & a plaster) until I had to give them up. I guess this was not a problem for many...

Research: Dr. William Rossi article flawed?

There's an interesting research paper by the late Dr. William Rossi called "Why shoes make 'normal' gait impossible". It's probably in the BRS research links, if not it's easy to find. I believe that, although much of what he says is correct, there is a fundamental assumption some of the...

Spinter - can lead to metatarsalgia?

I picked up a splinter little over a month ago in my left 1st (big) met' head pad. I dug around and couldn't find it. After 4 - 5 days the stabbing I was getting from the site subsided. I thought I was listening to my body as there was nothing I thought was a big deal and carried on BF running...

    BRS mentioned in RW...

The "April" edition of the UK Runners World magazine has an article on minimal shoes and mentions the BRS too. The article content is mixed and has comments from both sides of the fence. I didn't see the article on the .co.uk site (but didn't look very hard). Clearly there is a big shift in...

    Barefoot dictionary...

In different cultures there are frequently more words for something than in cultures that do not need to embrace the same thing. I gather that the Eskimos have 942,343 words for snow, (or there abouts). So, on to the Barefoot Dictionary. I will start it off: SLAPPER - In the UK I think that...

Where to point the casual enquirer?

In the pub last night several people had heard on the grape vine that I'd started barefoot running. Now I did not want to start giving all the reasons why someone might want to do BF, it would take too long, I'd already had a few  and did not want to start climbing up on my high horse to...

Clip in cycling shoes for BF feet?

I did a few searches on this but did not find an answer. I sometimes like to get on my bike but use shoes that clip into the peddles. Can someone recommend a good cycling shoe with a wide toe box that I can attach the cycling cleat to? :quest:

    Have you been licked yet?

Running in Hove Park (UK) a couple of days ago I hear a woman telling her large dog not to run after joggers. Of course it ignores her, catches up with me and starts trying to lick my bare feet. It did manage to lick one foot which seemed to be enough to put it off for some reason. Now...

Mortons? Avoid the gaps = no pain...?

This will not help many folks but if it has helped me so... I thought I'd share this in case anyone is grasping at straws for what else (obviously beyond the MT sticky that's not in the health section) may contribute to pain around the area of your foot that you'd suffer from Morton's neuroma...

Forerunner + footpod - does it measure cadence / issues for BF?

Can anyone with the Garmin Forerunner 305 plus a footpod confirm if this combination is any good for checking running cadence? Obviously there won't be a shoe lace to attach the pod to (but I figure I can just tie it around my ankle). Comments on how you manage this aspect of the pod also of...

    Size - does it matter?

If you were able to take 2 identical barefoot runners what would the effect be of changing the foot size of one of them? I did a quick search but didn't find anything that answered this although I'd have thought some studies are bound to have been conducted. In absence of this information...

    Eddy Izzard goes barefoot...

Some of you may be interested to hear this... (good for BF promotion anyway)... A well know UK comedian, Eddy Izzard who went from no running to a modest amount over something like a few months and then almost straight on to 43 marathons in 51 days is now going barefoot. The original 43...

Is it MN, form and/or "normal"?

I'm starting barefoot very slooooowwwwwly to avoid TMTS that had repeatedly nailed me while shod. I have just done a couple of weeks of simply walking about barefoot around the house, minimal shoes outside plus a few mini walks on some rough stuff. After my last barefoot walk (all 600-ish...

960 mile BF run Land's End to John O'Groats - did he make it?

The first bloke to do the London marathon BF (in 2005) was planning to do a 960 mile run (here's one link I found here). I found a few bits of info on other places like Facebook and it seems he picked up an injury but does anyone know if he continued, plans to continue, gave up etc.?

Christmas decorations that may make some folks think they're on something!

Check out the video here for something I'd really love to see! Now that is "far out" as they use to say in years gone by. Apparently!

Checkout these feather weight shoes used by some barefooters...

From almost within living memory. How about this for feather weight shoes, these folks went barefoot part of the time and used birds for shoes at other times (no joke): The 'bird people of St. Kilda. Fantastic! If anyone catches a couple of those birds, let us know how they work out!

    Hello from England

This site is clearly the place to be. I am sold on the idea of BFR after years getting over injuries from shod running. I'm 1 week into stage 1 of this "how to" here that might be worth putting on the list of links for intro material (I didn't see it there but perhaps it is already). Let the...
