Definitive Gross Picture Thread

For f***'s sake Cube, I mean

For f***'s sake Cube, I mean I heard about your escapade but damn that's some seriousness right there. Heal up Mr!! No more mud hills barefoot for you!

This is all I got, see that tiny cut there? That's the extent of my pathetic contribution to this thread. Sigh...I am happy to admit though that that's all I' got.

haha, I know No, it's been

haha, I know :p No, it's been there all year opens up every time I run barefoot. It started out as dry cracked foot and just turned into a cut that never heals.

I'll be sure to head out and run over a pit of broken glass and hypodermic needles just to have something worthy to post on this thread.

LOL....although I was

LOL....although I was informed today that someone has taken the pictures that I posted here and reposted them saying "this is why we wear shoes."....knew that might happen...quote mining (or picture mining) happens all over the net, it would be nice if they actually took the time to understand WHY this happened, and WHY I did what I did :).

Hi NateI understand why it

Hi Nate

I understand why it happened and why you did it. I also consider myself to be a hordcore barefooter and admire you for your strength of mind and body. I think you have demonstrated that there are occasions when going barefoot is not a good idea. You have also shown that there is a limit to what the human foot can do without injury. It is much, much more than most 'shoddies' believe is possible but it is hardly surprising that your photos are being used in the way that you describe. If I think that your run was too 'extreme', then almost every other person on the planet will think so too, with the exception of a few on this forum.

As a doctor, I am interested to see how well your feet are healing and I wish you a rapid and complete recovery.

I wish that I could contribute photos to this thread but I have never taken any of my misfortunes! My most yucky episode was chigga flea infestation of my feet in Venezuela. They healed very quickly once I squeezed them out and irrigated with hypertonic saline

Thanks Footloose It doesn't

Thanks Footloose :) It doesn't really surprise me either...my pictures SHOULD be used to understand caution in those conditions...In fact, slippery mud was one of the dangers I was well aware of (I wrote a FB note mentioning it last year :). And it's why I ended up walking the majority of the course :-D. People who are "sold on shoes" will find any reason, supported or not, to decry our barefooted ways!! So, it doesn't bother me THAT much. The feet are healing well, still can't really walk, and I'm tired of sitting and scooting around on my butt. I'll take some more pictures on Sat. and post them so you all can see the healing progression. I'll not be any worse off when I'm healed up, just a little unconditioned from sitting for a month :-D. I'm told that will come back quickly. It's been a good experiement, I can't remember EVER being this inactive for this long before!! My family, most of my friends, and my wife completely support me in my masochist endeavors. It's something I get honestly :). Anyway, left foot is almost completely covered in new skin, just a little bit of oozing still. Right foot is probably about half a week behind (it was cut a little deeper.) It's kinda cool, having baby skin on my feet, I'm actually a little ticklish on those spots I can touch now...don't remember them ever being that sensitive!!! At least I know there's no nerve damage :-D.

Toe Tip Drag.  Ha!  Our own

Toe Tip Drag. Ha! Our own kind of injury!

AWESOME!!

AWESOME!!

Jeez, that picture is HUGE!

Jeez, that picture is HUGE! Kind of a shock when you click on "new posts" and THAT is suddenly filling the screen.

Liz, you should add "toe tip drag" to the barefoot dictionary in the Barefoot Pub. :)

YAY!!! I like that one

YAY!!! I like that one better...get to see the hanging skin!! :-D

Oh yes, that's a much better

Oh yes, that's a much better angle! Give me one of those over ITBS, Achilles Tendonitis, plantar fasciitis...any day!

The size of the picture is large, but the bits are small. I tried adusting it on site, but it doesn't reduce. I would have to copy it off, reduce it, then load it back up...

Three week healing

Three week healing progression :)...pretty cool eh? I started walking regularly today, although not "normally"...but I don't have to scoot around on my arse anymore!! Left is almost healed...right is a few days behind, it was a little worse off.

Oh man, Nate!  That is so

Oh man, Nate! That is so cool to see, but geez! I can't wait to hear if your feet are able to take harsher terrain after you've finished healing up. Let us know. That would truly be interesting.

Liz,I did the exact same

Liz,

I did the exact same thing two weeks ago (pic is a few pages back). Fun, huh? I also ended up running home on it, because I wasn't going to get home any faster by walking!

Nate,

Glad to see some great progress going on. Hope you get back out there soon!
