Annoying Article

An annoying article with the buy line ...

'Barefoot running may be over, but here's why barefoot training is still smart'

is 'doing the rounds' at the moment - including being posted on social media by associates of the BRS! :(

http://www.latimes.com/health/la-he-barefoot-running-html-20151008-htmlstory.html

Please take every opportunity to let people know that barefoot running is not 'over' whenever you see this article.

Thank you
.

Lets just let our feet do the talking. No need for a call to arms, it's just someones opinion that will be forgotten about in a month or so.

You may be right Skedaddle. I don't usually let these things get to me, but it is rather annoying to see two of the people who advertise on our website posting it :(

I post articles like this sometimes because there's more to the article than one message. Sometimes there are good points too.

Unfortunately though, many people just absorb the buy lines, and don't bother reading the actual articles

Frustrating though it is, I think sometimes we just have to accept that businesses are very often primarily interested in getting their name 'out there' in front of as wide an audience as possible, and sometimes the pursuit of promotion and profit results in seemingly contradictory allegiances. -Disappointing I agree, but I think a fact of life...

Interestingly I quite like the comment added by 'StrongSoles' at the foot of the article. I wonder if he's a BRS member...

I run barefoot for ME...no one else. If I cared about public opinion I'd still be shod. Truth is, it simply makes me feel better and I enjoy running again. I've recently gotten a following of several cross country runners from a local high school (my friend's son and his friends). I don't preach BRF, I simply run and one or two have joined me on the trail. Keep in mind these are 15, 16 and 17 year old kids and they are already getting knee, hip, and foot issues. They are fast (some sub-16:00 5k), but never focused on form. We simply run and I can see them adjust their form as they run; one has even started running regularly barefoot. So let them write their silly articles. If BFR is over, someone forgot to tell the barefoot runners.

What will be even worse is if and when the movie "Born to Run" comes out, it was resort everyone who has been running barefoot for years back to rookies.
How so?
